On the one hand I found this to be a really touching
and sympathetic story of living your life to the
fullest and sacrificing oneself for those we hold
dearest, even if it means letting them go, possibly
forever.

On the other hand it sort of depresses me that even
those have to use some sort of nasty subtexts baked
in. In this case that women should stay in the home,
not get uppity and mouth off, as well as that
'throwing money at things' i.e. making donations is a
bad thing even though relief workers, teachers etc
need plenty of support to make an impact. People
indirectly help out by donating the money they've
toiled for to those who work directly with neccessary
charity. That way everyone helps out in the ways they
are able. Naturally good approaches and plans of
efficiency are of neccessity, but the principle is
nice and idealistic. It works great in Sweden where I
live in any case, where 50% of the population are
directly engaged in some sort of charity organisation,
on top of being fine with paying large taxes as long
as they're applied where most needed... Then again
we're supposed to have the second least corrupted
government in the world so the sentiments would likely
have been considerably more negative if leeched by
ill-willing money-grubbing officials.

Of course, it's possible that I read too much into it
due to being so used to finding more or less direct
messages in almost every story I read nowadays.

In any case I'm curious about the spectacled chinese
girl. Was it Shampoo, due to her inherited 350-year
old life-span and with diminished eyesight who agreed
to wait until Ranma's old life obligations were
fulfilled, Mousse with a curse seeking adventure, or
their common child, bethrothed to Ranma at birth due
make Shampoo rescind her claim? The last alternative
seems most likely in the story context, while the
first seems most likely in the original series
context.

Also who was his unspecified wife anyway? The dojo
inheritance made it seem like Akane or maybe Kasumi,
but I don't remember hearing _a specified_ dojo so it
could be Ukyou for all I know.

Nice story in any case. Best wishes.
