Seems fairly customary nowadays to kick off one of these epic
fanfictions with a load of meaningless speculation about beginnings
and ends and other concepts of the sort.

Even more of a custom is to actually give the name of the story
somewhere. Nowhere in your teaser is the actual title of the story
mentioned.

% Yeah, that would help, unless the name is really, really long.

Even if it's really, really, long it should be in the actual text of the
story somewhere.

The acronym "CTCD" is the story "Comes the Cold Dragon."

by Don Granberry...isn't it...

No. It would be kind of silly to say that you can't have a story with
a title whose acronym is the same as someone else's title which could
be made into the same acronym, especially one four words long. It's
hard enough making up titles for Ranma fics given the number out
there, but extending that to acronyms is silly. Still, I recommend
actually writing out the title to avoid confusion.

I was just joking about that... It's been 3 years (that 21 years in
"Internet years") since Don Granberry wrote a chapter for "CTCD" and I
doubt most people here have even heard of it. It's just that when I
first saw "CTCD" that's what came to mind. Because that's what the
chapter files are named on Don's webpage.

I really have no problem with even re-using titles. How many stories
are called "First Knight" or the ever popular and ongoing epic
"Untitled" by "Oh so many authors." And I'd MUCH rather see another
story called "Magical Girl Ranko" than someone's pseudo-japanesque
mis-translation of a phrase from Shakespeare.

Wasn't there a story about that recently called "Too Late?" An SI (Self
Insert) character who didn't make it in time to show off his Magic Sword
named after random words looked up in a Japanese-English dictionary?

Anyway, I've just got a pet peeve about the mis-use of acronyms...
Particularly in story titles. Or when the author feels it necessary to
footnote the acronym... because they just made it up.

And as you've seen by my rant...I tend to mis-use acronyms as much as
everyone else.
