For using the FFML to argue with an admin, and posting into a banned
thread, Joe Fenton is postbanned for the next two weeks.

Well, that was rather rude.
Politeness isn't a job requirement for FFML admin; squashing off-topic
threads is.
You obviously don't
read fanfiction.net very often
I don't read it at all, and I'm quite pleased about that fact, but
that's neither here nor there.
- Ranma / Harry
Potter xovers are very popular, and with the
release of the new book, we'll see quite a few
more released in the next few weeks.
Didn't you stop to consider that xover authors
might be reading this mailing list? I'll have you
know that I have a Ranma / HP xover published on
ff.net, and another in the works which is actually
affected by the recent book release.
Yes, I did consider that possibility, and I also considered the
possibility that such authors might have *other venues* by which they
can stay informed about such matters. The rest of the list, however,
signed up to read and discuss manga/anime fanfics, not for other
information that *might* be of relevance to a few writers.
Gregg Sharp has done a couple Ranma / SM / HP xovers
as well. Many big authors have. It's only natural
that someone would mention HP on the list to keep
folks like us aware of recent changes in the HP
canon so that we might adjust our xovers as needed.
That something is of interest to (some) fanfic authors is not
justification for it being on the FFML. I myself happen to be interested
in Illinois politics and Java programming, but that isn't justification
for someone posting about either of these things on this list.
Next time, think before rushing to censure anyone.
Next time, take your own advice. And in future if you feel the need to
dispute a decision by a list admin, take your complaint to
<ffml-admins@anifics.com>, not the list at large. There are two other
active admins to whom you can appeal your case, and posting there won't
get you tempbanned the way posting to the list at large will and has.
