The Jedi of Chaos, Part 1
In Training!
Chapter 1
Beginnings
A single shuttlecraft transport travelled through
the
silent void of space toward its final destination,
the
planet Yavin.
Well be arriving at the Academy in a few minutes.
At the shuttlecraft pilots announcement, half of
the
passengers began squirming with excitement and
anxiousness while the other half simply laid back
and
waited for the time to disembark. Not including the
pilot, they numbered twelve and all of them were
newly
selected Jedi trainees, all chosen for their
affinity with the Force. While some sat alone,
wanting some time to themselves, others huddled
together, obviously feeling the effects of being
away
from home for the first time.
One of them, a young human male perked up at hearing
the news. Barely out of his teens, he stood around
510, and possessed a lean body with thin shoulders.
Rosh Penin was relieved to finally hear the words
hed
been waiting for ever since hed climbed aboard the
shuttlecraft.
That would be so great; for a while there I thought
I
was going to go stir crazy. Weve been cooped up in
here for hours already with nothing to do! He
yawned
and stretched, looking around him for someone to
share
his rising enthusiasm for what promised to be a
changing point in his life.
His comment was true; the other Jedi initiates, as
Rosh thought all of them, including himself, to be,
were either napping or brooding in deep thought by
themselves. Despite his efforts to be friendly (he
was really a people oriented person), all hed
recieved for his troubles were only grunts, nods,
and
sometimes not even those. Finally hed given up and
settled back in a seat near the entrance to the
cockpit, thinking and complaining under his breath
how
bored he was.
That had been two hours ago. In order to provide
himself with SOMETHING to do, one of the things Rosh
had chosen was to study his fellow initiates.
Besides himself, there were four other humans, three
guys and a girl. One of the men was young, seemed
to
be around Roshs age, and was slightly shorter than
him but made up for it by having broad shoulders and
a
muscular build clearly visible from underneath his
clothing. The scowl on his face seemed to be a
constant and had discouraged Rosh from walking over
and introducing himself. Rosh had seen worse in
regards to the black, shaggy hair, but the slanted
eyes and skin complexion were something hed never
seen before. Oh well, it was a big galaxy out
there. Aside from his worn, but still serviceable
sleeveless yellowish brown shirt and black pants,
the
only article of clothing that made him stand out was
that yellow and black striped bandana that (barely)
held the hair in place.
The second man seemed to be the oldest and tallest
human out of all of them. Rosh estimated his age to
be from in the late thirties to mid forties. It was
the lines on his face and not the gray hair that
tipped Rosh off to that fact. When Rosh had
approached him earlier, the older man had simply
told
him in a surprisingly young sounding voice that
there
would be plenty of time to get acquainted once they
reached Yavin.
Rosh wouldnt admit it but he was more than a little
intimidated by the girl, who looked as if she came
from some backwater planet. She, too, appeared to
be
around the same age as he was, and her mode of dress
was quite appealing to the male eye; a snug, form
fitting one-piece suit, strong looking, made of
tawny
hides from some unknown creature that stretched from
around her neck down to her pelvis. By the looks of
her bare arms and legs, she was very fit and
excellently muscled. Rosh had caught himself
staring at her well endowed chest and had jerked his
head away, but had snuck another quick look. He
wasnt alone in that reaction; most of the males had
chosen to take a second, and even third, look. One
of
the bolder aliens, a male Rodian, had sauntered up
to
her, trying to strike up a conversation. A single
glance from her was all it took to send him quickly
retreating. Rosh had no doubt that she was some
type
of fighter and extremely formidable, definitely not
some helpless damsel in distress.
The long flowing pink hair (a curious color, that),
though, gave her an exotic beauty that somehow
suited
her.
The fourth and last human male seemed to come from
the
same racial stock as Mr. Scowling Bandana; in any
case, they seemed to be of the same age, possessed
the
same skin color, facial characteristics, and maybe
were even related. Rosh doubted that however, since
ever since in all the time theyd been on the
shuttlecraft, they didnt give a single sign of
acknowledgement or recognition.
He was sitting on the same bench as Rosh, on the
opposite side actually. Wearing a brown leather
jacket, a long sleeved gray tunic, and dark brown
pants with knee high black boots, he was dressed
like
a million other people on a thousand other planets.
No, what set this man apart from everyone else on
board was that he carried a lightsaber with him.
Rosh had no idea if it was still working, or if it
was
even genuine. For all he knew, it could be fake and
the guy was carrying it in a pathetic attempt to try
and impress Master Skywalker. But somehow Rosh felt
that wasnt the case; ever since setting eyes on it,
hed been nursing a wave of envy and mild
greed. If hed been the thieving type, Rosh
wouldve
snatched it up at the first chance he got.
Fortunately, however, Roshs upbringing had been
fairly wholesome and decent enough so while
he was tempted, he dismissed it with a second
thought.
The rest of the trainees werent of the human
persuasion. Three female Twi-leks, two of whom
seemed
to be a couple, judging by their close snuggling and
content appearance together,
while the third just stood off to the side. A
single
Rodian who, in Roshs opinion, looked suspiciously
homesick. Two Kel dor males, whose lower halves of
their faces looked like a flattened black-colored
crab
had decided to take up permanent residency
there. A female Zabrak who seemed a little lost and
was staring off into space.
Despite the fact that all the trainees, no matter
how
their race, culture, sex distinguished themselves
apart from each other, they had one single thing in
common. They were all wondering what their training
would be like under the tutelage of the highly
regarded Luke Skywalker, sole Jedi Master and Hero
of
