First off, Lurker, I'm sorry. I had no call to take a cheap shot at you.
I think what really got to me about DBs C&C was that fact that DB Sommer, a
guy whose posts are normally calm, encouraging and insightful was saying
"its unsalvagable". Much in the same way that *I* should have thought
before posting, I think DB should have taken a little bit more time to
reflect on the impact his words would have on a fledging ficcer.
I read the fic. It wasn't very good. But everybody starts off small. I
would like all of you to dredge up the first piece of fiction you ever wrote
and compare it to what your writing now. Is there a difference? There
should be. We learn. We get encouragement. If we're lucky, people who've
'been there, done that' help us along.
The author and the fic show some promise. Its rough and small, but its
there.
He's got the guts enought to post his fic to the list, I wish *I* had that
much guts.
Yeah, its cliche. But think about how many Ranma/Sailor Moon fics are
already out there. In the midst of ALL that, its hard to AVOID cliche.
Lurker also had one more good point to say about my post. I DO need to C&C
this thing, if for no other purpose than to encourage the guy (or gal) that
wrote it...
... can anyone tell me where the archive went too? :)
