Sakaki looked herself over in the mirror.  Pointed
ears, whiskers, tail, paws...the transmutation had
been successful.  Given whose labs had performed it,
she was now indeed a "cat of the military".  And for
the moment, she was cute.

Unfortunately, there was one side effect she mentally
berated herself for not foreseeing.  It should have
been so obvious, so in her face that she could almost
taste it...

She paused for a moment to swallow her saliva.  It
tasted good.

As did every other part of her body.  Her fur.  Her
skin.  Even her blood, when she experimentally bit her
tongue.  Every bit of her own flesh, as far as she
could tell, tasted...not sweet, like candy.  Not even
like a well-prepared steak.  If she knew more about
narcotics and similar drugs she might have likened it
to catnip, but only in the potentialy for addiction.
As it was, she knew of no words to describe how she
tasted to herself.

There was one, actually.  Dangerous.  And tempting,
which made two.  She did not know how long she could
hold out; she just knew that, eventually, she would
give in and start eating herself.  She strongly
suspected the taste would drive her into such a
frenzy, especially after smelling herself and denying
herself the exquisite flesh that was better off on her
bones instead of in her stomach, that she would not
notice any pain.

Already, she could feel the urges battering down her
will.  She knew she did not have much longer.  Her
last coherent thought was wondering if she would still
look as cute with her paw in her mouth.
