You could HEAR the heart at the end of his words.

I cannot stand references to visuals like the heart. It's cheap.
For example, if anyone writes "So-and-so sweatdropped", my hand reaches
for keyboard to write a scathing review.

I would use Chihiro and the Girl With Two Long Braids to compliment
Kaorin's squad. Or why not a boy. Ooyama would work. Make Kimura
jealous... Ahh, the possibilities.

The fragment uses the recognition effect well, so you get points for
the use of the material. How about going for a complete story around it
though?

If you do, this needs a lot more connection to the Naruto world than
just head protectors. A popular trick is to use match-ups, either
partners or opponents.
