okay I must have missed something, I've reread all 10 and both SS
and I still can't find the connection between Hotaru's and Ranma's family

The clues have been scattered through the chapters, starting all the way
back in chapter 2. Take another look at the scene where Seiko is trying to
comfort Aiko in her study when they all think Ranma had been killed. More
hints pop up in subsequent chapters.

I haven't reread the whole thing for quite a while, but isn't there some
rather massive clue dropping in chapter 6-ish, when someone does an expos
on the family history (where we learn Happosai's place in the family tree).

Anyway one problem I'm having is the treatment of the Tendos by the
police
I'm fully aware of the difference between the American and Japanese
police, (I was in the US Navy
and spent a lot of time in Yokosuka and Sasebo), but my point is if the
police finally took action at
the Emperor's "request" they would be very careful how they went about
it
with everything fully documented
and demonstratively "above board".
Perhaps a change so that the "body cavity searches" took place in a
Police Station and fully video taped with multiple witnesses...
still within the letter of the law but extremely humiliating

I did those scenes with malice aforethought. Chapter 10 fills the reader
in
a bit more on just which unit the good lieutenant belongs to ("OCU").

Also note, the fact that the police did *NOT* tread lightly on the Tendos
should be a BIG clue that something went seriously wrong *somewhere* along
the chain. The JNID agents' conversation outside Ucchan's in ch9 was
certainly a strong indication of this.

I'm getting dizzy trying to figure that bit out. Who set the cops on the
Tendo clan to begin with - Aiko, the girls, Nodoka, the Emperor, or someone
else? What was the motivation - retaliation for Ranma's death, some form of
ROE change due to that, or some twisted desire to muck things up? Is some
ally moving on the Yamada's behalf due to the blood feud?

>From what I remember, there were a lot of people involved behind the scenes
in this Ranma-verse. The Yamada clan, due to Ranma being a blood relation,
and the most qualified blood heir; the Imperial Household for the same
reason, and Ranma's general field talents; some "metahuman watch"
organization, with an interest in Ranma's superhuman abilities (his ki
talents); and at least one intelligence service.

>From what I can currently remember off hand, the most likely candidate is
the "talent scouts" - they want Akane, at least, in custody and subdued in
order to recruit her, and what better way than to let someone else dirty
their hands?

Also, it's not clear at all what happened to Ryoga. Mousse thinks he's dead,
but he thinks Ranma is, too, and we know how wrong that was. It's been a
week, or thereabouts, since the fight, Ranma hasn't thought of him once, and
he hasn't turned up lost. Will Cologne and Mousse dig him up? Or is he dead,
and no one's bothered to comment on it?

(If he is alive, and just lost rather than disabled, it's a tossup between
who'll do the cops in - him or Ranma. Ryoga is tough enough to be almost
bulletproof according to canon, and most certainly more resistant to the
shock batons than Akane or Soun. Anyway, some indication would be nice...)

Just my to cents worth

And my 15 re,
