Ah. Hmmmmm
In Farscape, Chriton drifts through a space battle
and we see it quite clearly through the window of the
cockpit.
Distance: a lot of S-F novels describe space battles
occurring at distances of hundreds of miles or more,
too far to see ships with the naked eye. You, of
course, are not bound by this, but there is a trade-off
of plausibility. If the ships are hundreds of meters
apart, rather than hundreds of miles, Misaki landing in
the middle is just that much more of a fantastic
coincidence.
Illumination: every S-F movie and TV episode which
shows a space battle gets at least the illumination
problem wrong, even if deliberately. The problem is
that you wouldn't be able to see most of the ships'
surface (on which the show's artists have worked so
hard) at all. Without an atmosphere to scatter light,
any surface facing away from a source of illumination
is just black; lasers or other light beams can't be
seen from the side; and any part of a surface you DO
see has to be both reflecting and at the right angle
w.r.t. you and the light source.
*Shrug* Think of it as upholding a tradition of bad science in TV and
Movie Science Fiction. :)
Well, I think Hagrid is supposed to have a Scottish
accent, but you did a good job capturing it, IMO.
Thanks
Guess I'll have to go back and read Chap 3 again. I
remember getting names in that chapter, but not motives
or objectives or any sense of how the conflict got
started.
Well nobody seems to know why the Thaniens have declared war on the
known galaxy or why they've chosen such ruthless methods, but our heros
should be more worried about the traitor in their midst.
