I guess I should be more specific in what I asked for - one creator

enjoyment of the fanfics she has read is no evidence of the general
attitude
towards fanworks. What I was hoping for is more than "X says he
enjoys/doesn't
mind fanfics based on his works."* or "They sell thousands of doujinshi -
if
it
the creators/owners/publishers/etc. disapproved, they would take action
against it."

Okay, you want an example of "X says he enjoys/doesn't mind fanfics based
on his works"?  Here's one.

Me.

I'm a pro writer.  I have a membership in the Science Fiction and Fantasy
Writers of America.  Those of my works which are still in print are

not asking anyone to buy anything, just to confirm that I am a published
author.  In fact, the book in question below is out of print and

I enjoy and actively solicit and encourage fan fiction set in the world of
my first book.  If you go to the page I maintain on that book
(http://www.eclipse.net/~rms/istworld.html) you will find a section for
fan fiction, which is populated.  Not by much, at this time, because not
many people write fan fiction for that world, but it exists, and I support
it.

There you go.  One concrete example.
