The Hornet was actually a human sized villain that appeared in

Spiderwoman.

He was a variant of the Fly created by Dr. Karl Malius,

I was surprised you just didn't use the female Yellowjacket for this,
actually. Yellowjacket was just another Pym outfit, of course, but it was
taken up by a crook that reformed and even joined the Guardians of the
Galaxy.

I actually really like her. Too bad she was "supposedly" killed during the
Crossing in Avengers.
