Nope. Not if the REF has a code of military justice even remotely
resembling the common points shared by most 20th-century Western
nations. And since Tenchi mentioned a JAG investigation, I suspect it
does. Edwards gets a nice, legal trial, with a lawyer. *Then* he gets
spaced. If Tenchi just blew him out an airlock, *he'd* be the one
facing a court-martial. And he'd be convicted.
What worries *me* is that Edwards is too canny a player to do something
as egregiously *pointless* as this appears to be. If there wasn't an
angle he could count on to get him out of this, and forward his overall
scheme, he wouldn't be playing. But what does he *gain* by doing this?
I will note in passing that one thing he *has* accomplished is to put a
not-insignificant hole in the REF's mecha strength, by rendering his
hand-picked units unreliable. I doubt this is his goal, but I'll bet
that it forwards his plans, somehow...
