It's sad but true that readers don't tend to have a lot of patience. If

a

story

looks like it's not going anywhere interesting, most people will just

quietly

go look for something else to read. This is as true with fanfiction as

it

is

with any other reading material that we aren't required by work or

school

to

read.

Given.  Gaijin has stated though he's NOT writing for the "average"

reader.

And... I'll point out that at _LEAST_ 2 bestselling authors (who've had
their books made into multi hundred million dollar movies) spend _as_ MUCH
or more words in "setup")
If you don't like Tom Clancy or Tolkien, or other writers of that nature,
then you _won't_ like Gaijin's writing.
