"Eaten Out of House and Home"
A mystery Cardcaptor Sakura crossover

    It was an otherwise enjoyable day in the park with Tomoyo. The sun
was shining, the birds were chirping, the emergency cell was ringing....
Sakura sighed and picked it up. Her boyfriend was wonderful, but
sometimes he just picked the wrong times to bother her. "Shaoran? What
is it?"
    "Sakura, you gotta come home quick!" shouted Kero's voice. "It's
bad! Really bad!"
    "Kero!" Sakura shouted back, mostly for Tomoyo's benefit. "What's
wrong?"
    "We're under attack! Some kind of monster is eating your house!"
    Sakura gasped and leapt to her feet. "Tomoyo, come on! We have to
hurry!" She pulled the necklace from around her neck and held it in her
palm. "Key which hides the power of stars, return to your true form,"
she chanted. "I, Sakura, command you under our contract. RELEASE!" The
key extended into a full-sized wand, and Sakura twirled it around a few
times before throwing a card in front of it. "FLY!" Two huge wings
sprouted from her back.
    Tomoyo excitedly wrapped her arms around Sakura's waist and felt
Sakura's arm hold her tightly. "Can we stop at my room for a costume
change?" she asked.
    "There's no time!" replied Sakura. "My house is being eaten!"
    "Eaten?" repeated Tomoyo. "Are you sure this isn't some kind of
joke?"
    "I don't think Kero would joke about something so serious," said
Sakura. "But I sure hope he is."
    She took off with a mighty flap of her wings, and they set off
toward the Kinomoto house.

    It was no joke - a giant purple blob was sliming its way over the
roof of the house, pulling the entire structure into its cavernous
mouth. Sakura landed at the end of the block and let Tomoyo down,
staring up at the horrible thing that was consuming her domicile.
    Kero floated down to meet her, his wings and arms both flapping
wildly. "Oh, man! This is bad!"
    "What happened?" asked Sakura. "What is that thing? Where did it
come from?"
    "You remember that candy shop you stopped at yesterday?" asked Kero.
    Sakura's face turned red with anger. "Were you eating my candy?" she
shouted.
    "Just one candy bar!" Kero protested. "It had one of those worthless
trading cards in it, so I threw it away, and then this thing came out of
it!"
    Tomoyo shook her head. "Kero, you of all people should know better
than to underestimate cards."
    Kero sighed. "Yeah... but it didn't FEEL magical."
    Sakura hefted her wand. "My family is depending on me... I won't let
that blob eat my house!"
    "ORORORON!" shouted the monster.
    It was going to be the silliest battle of Sakura's life.

    And stay tuned for her next epic adventure...

    Surrounded by enemies on all sides, Sakura did the only thing she
could. "JUMP!" she shouted, leaping high into the air. As lightning
crackled around her, she threw another card. "FLY!" The wings sprouted
from her back, and she flew up out of reach of the attackers below.
    "She's getting away!" one of the men shouted.
    A tall one with a face like a skull laughed. "Relax. I'll take care
of her!" He lifted his foot and brought it down hard.
    Sakura suddenly spun in the air, jerked out of her flight by an
unseen force. "Aaaaah!" she screamed. "I'm falling!"
    The skull-faced man laughed again. "Now we have you!"
    Sakura's eyes widened as she looked down at him and realized what
had happened. "He's standing on my shadow!" she shouted. She pulled a
new card from her deck. "LIGHT!" A bright flash blinded the mob below,
eradicating all traces of her shadow. Before it could reappear, she had
another card ready. "SHADOW!" Her shadow crawled away from her enemies
and took flight, beating its own powerful wings to carry it away from
the skull-faced man and his mysterious power.
    The crowd clamored angrily, their rage mounting as the girl escaped
their clutches.
    The group's leader smiled. "Let her go," he said. "We'll get her
next time. After all, no amount of magic can save her from the power of
Dark Bring."
