Hello all,

I've been lurking on the FFML for a while after coming back almost 3 years 
after I actually wrote some fanfics. I have a pair of stories that have been 
bugging me for quite some time, but for some reason I have not been able to 
start either.  One I have a beginning for, but I don't really have the 
desire to write it at the present, the other I have an ending for, but I am 
having the most frustrating time trying to begin it. I've literally deleted 
100s of first drafts because they simply didn't feel right to me.

To get to the point, I was wondering if I might get some suggestions for 
determining where to begin... or perhaps the more accurate question is how 
to begin.  I think my major problem with beginning right now is while I have 
an attatchment to the character, I am not sure where to begin the 
presentation of the character to create enough attatchment between her and 
the reader before I start turning her life upside-down. (ironically, I do 
know exactly how I'm going to turn her life upside-down in the beginning...)

After reading many websites and such, I have discarded my original idea of 
presenting some of the traumas of her past in the very beginning.  The 
nature of the character, however, may be somewhat confusing for the reader 
without this background, however, as she has a rather complicated emotional 
state: On the outside she is a happy, friendly, popular girl, but inside, 
she is a completely different person: very timid, a bit on the paranoid 
side, scared of herself, and bothered by an event in her childhood.

Anyway, if I could get a few general suggestions, questions to think about 
when I'm writing it, perhaps some other people's thought processes to keep 
in mind will help me break this block and I can start writing or at least be 
able to get a draft that I can post to the list for shredding in C&C ^^;

To spare the list from any traffic this might produce, please respond
