Interesting chapter, if a bit slow--and it's nice to see Happosai doing
something other than summoning a demon for once.
Indeed! I thought that was actually a rather sweet scene. I would
like to know the story behind it, and why he has to 'beg forgiveness'
of his little girl. She is actually dead, right? not just trapped in
Limbo accidentally or something? The latter might make for in
interesting story in its own right, with Happi as a tragic hero who
seeks magical artifacts and lore to undo the past error, struggling
against his own desires to panty-raid and party down as well as the
guardians of whatever he's after this time, the ritual he just did
with the soul stone one of his earliest near-misses and one that is
most painful in that it only reunites them for a short time, but that
short time is still better than nothing so he keeps doing it every
decade or so to keep his quest firmly in mind.
This would require a rather more sympathetic view of the old fart
that we usually see, and is probably too involved for what would be a
sidestory at best to the main plot of Ranma's succession as Sailor
Kronos (So he/she has the power of the Klingon homeworld, then?) and
having his curse locked. Unless 'Limbo' happens to be where the Gates
are, and Happi's been butting heads with Puu all this time... somehow
I doubt Ranma would be opposed to helping out some poor girl who
happens to be an ancestral relative, and would be more likely to act
first and then realise there may be repercussions than listen to a
long winded technical explanation of why exactly the former Guardian
thought things were better as they were, the former guardian having
been (from his POV at least) such a stubborn jerk (and does it ever
feel odd thinking about RANMA saying that about someone, when it's
his own major flaw).
Regardless, I expect this is nothing like what you (Mark) have
planned, but I look foreward to finding out how I'm wrong.
