Angus McSpon's "Sailor Moon 4200"
(http://shell.ihug.co.nz/~macspon/fanfic/sm4200/sm4200.html) also
touches on this theme, though only Serenity is deified. The others are
seen as her servants or allies. McSpon could probably explain it
better.
Actually, and I'm only forming an opinion here, based on Uranus'
(Suzue) thoughts during chapter 8, the Senshi seem to be revered
almost like saints, much like in Catholithism. The Outers less so,
perhaps; Suzue refers to the Outers as 'the Shadowed Senshi.'
To qoute:
(It was also a little disturbing, for other reasons. Ten'ou-sama had
been one of the Shadowed Senshi: not pure and unsullied like the
Inner Four. She had at times done things that were…questionable.
There could be no doubt that she was due as much honour and
reverence as the others, but still…)
Or it could be like the Norse: Serenity as the top God (ie Odin), the
others lesser gods (ie Thor, Balder, Sif).
Just my interpertations.
It's a thought. You'd have to talk to McSpon about what he was drawing
on to create the church. I just wish he'd post another chapter.
