Keep in mind, he was talking about trying to get some
privacy.  Even when Akito's in his quarters, he
doesn't get that much privacy.  ("Freedom from those
serving up low-quality food attempts" isn't quite the
same thing.)

Besides, his captain says his presence boosts her
performance, and at least one Jovian kill by Ryoko can
be directly attributed to motivation from Akito's
presence.  Even Gai was inspired by Akito's
performance.

I've received some questions about this in private
C&C, so I suppose I should comment: I was basing this
on the (I thought, apparently incorrectly, widely
known) practice of some human resources personnel of
reading a job candidate's online writings.  This is
why Prospector would be reading a fanfic in the first
place.
