"And thawed it out. If I had just moved it, the next few centuries of
warming would have been hell for storms, earthquakes and floods. I just
put
it into an orbit at the median habitual range and warmed it to the
appropriate temperatures. I can't do any thing about the magnetic
fields
without ripping the planet totally apart and rebuilding it."

If I understand physics (and I'm not the expert, but this jumped out so
I'm
putting it out there), any movement of a planetary body will fool around
with the gravity of that body, if only for that period of time where the
orbit changes. I guess I'm imaginging something much more catastrophic
for
a shift in planetary orbit.

Yes. The point here is that none of that occurred.

Why?

Because at the same time she's moving the planet, thawing it out, stablizing
the interior, and neutrilizng the side effects, not only for Jamsona, but
for the entire solar system. Might need to expand this section a bit to
show the total scope of what she's doing. She's not just moving the
planet, but adjusting the entire balance of the system to accomodate the
shift so there are no catastrophic effects. Now or in the future.

It's a demonstration of power far more effective than simply destroying the
planet, because it's not just a demonstration of power, but of control.
Ruby has the power to reshape solar systems on a whim, and she's ASKING for
help, when she could just as easily coerce it.

Humm.... probably a case where I know what is happening, and I need to make
it clearer to the readers. Will work on it.
