I checked twice, and I still might not have seen it, but Eiko did not say
the words "slightly painful." Just chop off the quotes or another
word/phrase that was said. Don't use single quotes for "really hurts"
either. That is Ranma saying it.
"slightly painful" was used in chapter 6.
Also, I think the quotes around Ranma's speech there is just fine. I
take it to mean that for those two words, Ranma did his best to match
the speaking style/cadence/marmoset of Eiko, in an attempt to mock.
In this case, I expect that Ranma dropped into a monotone for it, as
that is how I hear Eiko's lines in my head as I read them. But thats
just me.
