That is an interesting question.  The comic book lore states that the
Amazons would lose their powers if a male stepped foot on the
island... at least it did pre-Crisis.  Haven't kept up with the WW
series in a while.

What would happen should Hippolyta find out?  She is the Queen,
after all.

If one uses the current version of the mythos, Hippolyta would be quite
relieved that Diana is spared the role, even if she can't publically
admit it.  There was an extensive story arc which had Diana supplanted
in the role of "Wonder Woman" by another Amazon.  The whole thing was
engineered by Hippolyta who had a vision that "Wonder Woman" would be
killed and was willing to do anything to attempt to save her daughter.

I agree, I'd love to see how this would play out in the Ranmaverse.
