There are some fics that just MUST be C&C'd.
And this is one of them.

aka "The calm before the storm."
Nuclear detonations have quiet spots, too -- that moment after the
outgoing shockwave has passed by, before the rebound comes rushing back
the other way. But that's more in the nature of a one-two punch sorta
thing, or waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I think most people would aruge that these FLAs apply to more than just
the quiet moments before Something Bad Happens. But in context, here, I
suppose it's nothing worth quibbling over.
> Seamus was dead certain that they were already well into TARFU,

And beyond FUBAR there is... Nerima.
Or maybe the Pentagon. Words cannot *describe*....

I'd suggest maybe dropping the parens -- that last line seems almost a
natural progression from the preceeding ones.
And that's an interesting observation -- is Happi *really* just
addicted to undies, or does he, perhaps, really just enjoy causing
trouble? I've never considered that dimension before...
> So, if Happosai was the thief, why didn't he show himself to

Happi's new apprentice would seem to be the obvious conclusion to leap
to. Which means it's probably wrong.

Uh oh.

> This was Nerima. Who'd notice?
He's got a point there. But even in Nerima, chaos&weirdness must have
some kind of critical mass limit.

Obviously a Hellblazer reader.

The parenthetical translation seems a tiny bit awkward. But I haven't
got any constructive suggestions for a way to do it better, so feel free
to ignore...
> "Elder Lilac! Elder Lilac! There are monsters on the roof!"
Seamus's friends, no doubt.

Okay, I was thinking "Gargoyles" at this point.

Who's Splinter? I don't recall any gargoyles by that name...

Splinter? Waaaaait a second....
> The young Amazon stared at the American grandmaster. "But...

T-U-R-T-L-E-Power! T-U-R-T-L-E-Power!

From the glowing neon sign over his head, no doubt.
> "But it's a RAT! A GIANT RAT! We need to get hot water! Or an
> exterminator! Or SOMETHING!"
That's not an *entirely* unreasonable reaction, though it *is* very
hasty. I mean, Splinter-sensei may be a rat, but he's a very *clean*
rat, well-groomed. The fact that he stands 5'??", wears clothes, and
has human-ish body language should really have clued them in that he's
no ordinary rat, though.

So, are these the "manga" TMNTs, or the TV version? It's been a while,
but IIRC the written version had Splinter start out as a rat, while the
TV version started out as a human ninja master.

Poor Seamus. His pocketbook may never recover. Gives a whole new

Ukyo must be *rolling* in cash before long, though.

That last line is a bit of a run-on. Maybe: "...senses to passively
read the chi aura of Sasuke's companion... and was mildly surprised by
what he detected."
> "Forgive me, McGyver-sensei. I am the Kunoichi Konatsu."
No family name? Seems odd, given who polite and proper K always is.

Not sure "runt" should be capped, although it is in dialogue, so...

He doesn't replay to K? It's not vital, but the lack of mention jars
me a little bit.

What, they missed Sasuke's announcement?
Come to think of it, they must not have been there. Ninja they may be,
