- Should be kimonos.

Nitpick: Japanese doesn't have a plural form for nouns; that is, the plural
of katana is katana, the plural of kimono is kimono, etc. I don't know for
certain if there is or is not a plural mode in some other part of speech, but
I -think- not, and that plural or singular is simply implied from context.

Whether or not the author chooses to apply that fact to an English language
'fic is probably a stylistic point.

- Ummm...what? Okay, I read through all the manga, but didn't see all of the
anime. I take it that Kenshin and Kaoru dying is something of your
fabrication for the fanfic?

I haven't seen it myself (in fact, I've seen hardly any of the anime), but
there is an OAV set after the end of the regular series, titled Seisouhen,
which I am given to understand has Kenshin returning to wandering after the
birth of Kenji. When Kaoru falls fatally ill some years later, he returns to
say goodbye. They both die at roughly the same point, her of disease and him
of neglect and self-abuse.

Since I'm also told that Watsuki-sensei had nothing to do with its production,
I'm inclined to consider it in conflict with the character developments of
the Jinchuu and late Kyoto arcs, and outright contradicted by Act 255 of the
manga and a color short from the Kenshin Kaden artbook, and English 'dubbed'
translation of which may be found at http://www.miburo.com/info/kaden.html .

Authors Notes:
   I've already had emails about this, so I am going to just come right
out and say it plain. Sano >and Megumi will not marry in this fiction.
Period.  *backs away from rake and shovel wielding >fangirls*

- Oh, well... good, because I don't think they'd make a great couple anyway.
^-^ I always saw their relationship as brother/sister at best. Sure, they
might fool around a night or two after too much stress or drinking, but
husband and wife...?

I'd feel kinda sorry for their kids, myself, but I think there's enough
evidence there to support their at least getting together, and I'm too much
of a romantic to accept them splitting up later without a fight... as likely
as that'd be in the real world, I, at least, read fiction (fan or otherwise)
to imagine things as being better than they are.

It's not a big sticking point, though - I think you could make a pretty good
argument either way.

And saying "they won't get married here" leaves plenty of weasel room, both
with regards to what they do -instead- and whatever might happen -elsewhere-.
It might -imply- (and my hoping that those implications are a red herring is
probably wishful thinking), but it doesn't -say-.

- Hehe. I like the bit with the little girl... looks promising. Anyway, that
was a good prologue and first few chapters.

Agreed. It's a very good piece, and I'm always glad to see more good
Kenshin-fic.
