The "torn apart" does give me pause on second reading,
though: I took this as figurative first time through, but
if meant literally, I have to wonder
where this is supposed to have taken place. In any Muslim
country, the local populace would not be that upset at
finding that some clergy aren't sufficiently holy; they've
known that all along. In American, I'd think the
proportion of unholy Muslim clergy fairly low, given their
tiny minority status: why do it at all if you don't
believe in it?
I wasn't thinking as much for inside the US, as much as in
the countries like Iran.
Given the nature of the invasion and the position of power
they're in, I'd think that they have a number of believers.
When that belief is betrayed, the results can be violent. I
was also going with the generally more violent response in
the area. I'll admit I was thinking mostly about the worst
of the lot. The ones who would be cult leaders in the USA.
I'll admit I write from a slanted viewpoint sometimes. I
pay more attention to the middle-east than many americans,
but get alot of the bad, because those are the ones I have
to worry about. I'll change it if I get more feedback about
this bit.
