Dateline: Tel Aviv

Locals were shocked today by the outcome of a youma
attack.  While it has been demonstrated before that
the truly pious can damage the monsters commonly known
as "youma", after the name given during their first
sightings in Japan, a youma horde in a downtown
shopping center this morning was thwarted by a suicide
bomber.  Initial police investigation, including
questioning of the deceased's friends and family,
indicated that she had wanted to claim the lives of
several Isralei politicians, mostly hard-liners who
had called the youma attacks divine punishment for the
continued presence of Palestinians on Isralei soil,
and had recently pushed for the expulsion or execution
of all remaining Palestinians.  Other interviews of
those who knew the deceased generally showed her to be
a devout student of Islam, and to otherwise possess
several similar personality traits as the local rabbis
who have so far kept damage from youma to a minimum.
Forensic experts doubt that the force of the blast
could, by itself, account for the utter obliteration
of the youma horde.

Dateline: Sydney

Following the publication of a hurried study of those
commonly called "pious warriors", local vigilante
groups have formed, bonding and meditating to increase
their belief that they are fighting to protect the
people.  Several of these groups have taken to wearing
costumes and referring to one another by code name in
public, invoking old comic book images of superheroes
both to protect their private lives and increase their
fighting spirit.  Although technically illegal, police
are usually willing to look the other way given that
these citizens are often the only way to stop
rampaging youma.  Official government training
programs to add police and military personnel to the
ranks of these superheroes have been mired in
bearaucracy for weeks, to the point that many have
taken leaves of absence to join these vigilante
groups.

Dateline: Tokyo

Perhaps the youngest superhero group to date has been
spotted.  Calling themselves the Sailor Senshi, these
school-age girls incorporate realistic magic tricks
into their fights.  They have proven supremely
effective against the youma; unconfirmed reports claim
they have been on the job since the youma were first
sighted, and even have history with the youma
predating the first attacks.  Most people believe the
Sailor Senshi are just good imitators of the worldwide
trend, and hope they will soon stop and leave the job
to adults.

In other news, the Diet building is being investigated
for airborne hallucinogens after workers there
reported talking a cat with a crescent mark on its
head, which wanted to address the Diet about the youma
crisis.
