Which is exactly the point. Imposing Ranma laws of ki onto Love Hina
characters for no apparent reason gives the fic a Ranma-centric tone.
If you're primarily a Ranma fan, that may not be a bad thing. For
someone who respects the Love Hina characters, though, it's onerous.
Ki/Chi has the same source in both universes. It's just manifested
differently in Motoko and Kuno. Why not respect that? There's no
reason why Ranma couldn't learn any of Motoko's techniques, but
there's also no reason to forget Motoko is Shinmei Ryu and turn her
into a powered-up Kuno.

Except that SO FAR, all we've seen of her is from Ranma's POV. He, naturally enough, would compare her to Kuno. In a later scene from, say, her POV, she might compare Ranma to someone else of her acquaintance, which I hope will provoke from you an equally vehement complaint of the author's disrespect for the Ranma cast.
