Whether it was shock,
anger, or the more likely great emotional pain and
distress, it would have
been clearly painted on his face, because no matter
how you slice it, Ranma
does not hide his emotional state well at all.

*Cough* Soul of Ice, *cough*.

(Consider the whole Gambler
King storyline, this established it as fact, not
opinion, that he doesn't
hide his emotions well.)

*Cough* Soul of Ice *cough*.

Point of clarification: the HSH training was not devised so that he
would instantly be able to hide his emotions at all times. It was
conceived so that he emitted cool chi despite his opponent's attempts to
disrupt the hot/cold spiral dance needed for the Hiryuushoutenha. After
all, even WITH the HSH training, Ranma has been flustered, angered,
annoyed, embarassed and humiliated enough times throughout the rest of
the series. Hell, the fact that Ryuu was able to enrage him out of the
Umisenken (which arguably requires much more "cool" than the HSH) should
prove this.

When money shows up (likely the whole thing would
have come from either a
lawyers office, or from the Hina family forwarding
him the letter)

You do realize that its fairly easy and common to hide
the actual home address....ever heard of P.O. boxes?

Umm, I'm not arguing one way or another, but... if people find this
jarring, maybe a bit of an explanation is needed within the fic itself?
Just one or two throwaway lines that clear this up? What may be
crystal-clear to one reader may be a complete unknown to another.

Plus, by this point
in the manga (after the
S.S.H and before Ranma's mother shows up) she has
had to endure her father's
and Genma's antics regarding her and Ranma already,
so in my opinion, saying
that the threat of impending marriage preoccupied
her is not a valid
arguement.

And in my opinion, she's annoyed enough at Genma and
Soun to not feel very empathic at the time.

Why wouldn't she also attack them, though? I mentioned this to Lurker
over AIM, but I really believe she'd get angry at the parents first,
Ranma second (she did at the start of the Mt. Phoenix saga, when she was
KO'd and stuffed into a wedding kimono.) After all, she knows it's not
his fault directly.

You don't seem to grasp the concept of fanfiction. I
can write OUTSIDE the manga.

Shade, I enjoyed the story, despite the stylistic issues I had with it.
You're getting a veritable TON of feedback. Even if your interpretation
of the manga differs from other readers', you don't need to grow as
defensive as this. I'd like to think that people are responding to the
fic because they honestly want to help out, even if more than a few of
them are rather adamant about their particular POVs.
