The Typical American Comic Book Hero is not a sadist. And, you know,
if Usagi is going to go to the trouble of torturing people to death,
she should at least take the opportunity to ask them a few questions,
unless she _likes_ an endless merry-go-round of monster hunting with
no chance of getting closer to the source of the problem.
Given the stated reasons for her change in attitude, I think she might want exactly that. The longer it goes on, the more likely it is - to her thought - that the monster who killed her family will show up, and she'll get to put to use all that practice she's been getting in How to Give the Monsters Nightmares.
