hi,
why are you whining? you should be proud that you did a good job. and
you must know that contrary to the people on ff-net you have here a lot
of seasoned people. they know when somebody needs a lenghty C&C and do
as they fit.
and on the other side there are lots of lurkers - including myself. i am
happy to read a good fiction, especially ranma. and when i see somebody
is doing an awful job i can sometimes gather my will to comment and
write only every once in a while. Real Life is a bitch. thats my excuse.
the neccessity to comment a fiction is also not always given when a
longtime writer does his work repeatedly well and better. of course
there is also the theme. for example i am not reading that SM stuff or
RK or Selfinserts. this fiction is really boring. and your "Tears of
the dragon" count into such category. yuck.
albeit i read the first few chapters i got rapidly bored and refrained
to complain because i think and still think that you are the writer and
are consequently aware whereever you are leading your fanfiction. and
when i think back i remember that you had only little to non spelling
and grammar trouble. so whats the matter ? you are good in this resort.
now you have only to work on the ideas, so that i want it to read?!?
:-)
now, really, i do believe that you have done a good job and only the
younger members of the ffml are will be responding. i also saw that the
same thing happens to the good writers on ff-net. and when i look into
the reviews i can see a certain pattern as well. talk with Kleppe or
lurker or whitewolf. they had the same lifestory. when they got more and
more famous writing good fiction they also got less and less C&C.
i dont know how many members the FFML consists but i believe they are
about 1000 people on it. and most of them are simply lurkers. because
they enjoy to read but lack any writingskill or are to lazy. And lurker
has not his name for naught. sometimes he just stays put and than
suddenly he writes so many times that you think he is the only one
reviewing.
at the end i can only say that you should not quiet because people are
not responding to every sentence you write. just lay back and enjoy your
writing and develope your style the way you think is the best.
:-)
have a nice day.

Okay.... this has passed the ridiculous stage.
For the last few months, it seems this forum has turned into exactly the thing I was first told it wasn't... a place where a select few people can have tons of reviews... and everyone else can be blissfully ignore
For example, on my last six chapters, I have recived Michael Chase's fabulous editing, a few out and out fans thanking me for writing more... and nothing else. No commentary... no criticism, no this doesn't work right... it needs improvement, try this... in fact almost nothing telling me at all if anyone is even reading my posts.
Now, this could tell me I'm an out and out ass and no-one is commenting because I've pissed everyone off... except that I've gone out of my way to be polite and thank everyone who's commented, changed things where needed, and explained why some things can't be changed due to over all plotline. So I can't see where I've been so bad, I'm being ignored.
I can however see a select few authors who can post here... and expect tons of commentary. Paragon here being a case in point. I've had two replies in the course of a weekend, verses seven in less than 12 hours for Mr. Haynie.
That's not what I came here for people. I certainly can't improve the story if no-one bothers to read or comment.
So, now that the complaint is out of the way, here's my question.
How can I adjust my posts to get them read, or what am I doing wrong in the story to make so few people bother to comment?
Or, failing that, where can I go to actually get what I'm looking for?

Private replies please. The Admin's have been very nice to me and I don't wish to annoy them worse than I absolutely have too.
