Heh. One of the main background themes of this story is that the
characters
are making important decisions that are often (but not always) based on
incomplete or erroneous information.

Just very annoyed by the little darlings, and want to see them
brought down a few notches in situations outside combat.

Heh. Well, cant help that much - I have a definite plan in mind on how the
Yamada girls and the rest of the NWC interact. Future chapters will
illustrate this. :)

Not really. I've addressed Ranma's current state of mind in another
message
reply, so it can be summarized that Ranma is simply on the verge of a
nervous breakdown.

I really can't buy that much. *Maybe* stress plus hormones, a
little, but Ranma at the very least should notice that this isn't his
normal behavior.

OK, the hormone influence issue really needs to be addressed. Women vary
*widely* on the amount of stress and hormone-induced behavior they have to
live with. Some women have *no* symptoms - no PMS, no mood swings, no
sudden metabolism and weight changes, no random hot flushes, no migraine
headaches, and no medical troubles through either puberty or menopause.
Some women get *some* of these symptoms, some women get *most* of these
symptoms, and there are the unfortunate percentage of women who get the
whole damned package of crap in excess.

I've been married to one of those unfortunates for 24 years now. Chemical
imbalances of these types are *NOT* fun to live through from either side.
And - even knowing that the body's hormone system is utter crap - it is
*still* possible to misdiagnose the symptoms for a short time (up to
several days), since *each* occurrence is a little different (or a lot!)
from the previous one.

It is not very difficult for *me* to imagine just how difficult it would be
to swing back and forth between a male's hormone system and a female's
hormone system at random, and what effect that would have when it gets
"stuck" in the wrong category for any length of time. Ranma, stressed out
at the moment? You betcha. Hormones a major cause of this? Absolutely.

So why *doesn't* Pluto know the Gates are sentient? They've had
3000+ years to make this apparent to her. And honestly, I think
Pluto would pick the Crystal Tokyo future because it required the
*least* number of innocent deaths.

See Sebastian's posts.

Umm, the evidence contradicts itself. And I am very certain that
Eiko is wrong about Pluto's motivations.

Unfortunately I'm getting into spoiler territory if I start explaining any
further.

[snip]
rather than a free-willed guardian. And that ribbons vs. bows
deception clearly indicates that Eiko is willing to fudge the truth
to get what she wants.

Eiko didn't lie about the ribbons and lace. It didn't fill in all the
blanks either.

Still, I'm betting on the "dupe" explanation.

Eiko is the "neutral" personality of the three artifacts (yes, using "him"
and "her" for the other two was quite deliberate). It tends to be quite
literal and precise in its speech as a result. It didn't lie about the
uniform. It didn't *volunteer* extra information either. Yes, it has a
distinct self-interest to "protect" at the moment: it wants Ranma to finish
the process of bonding as Guardian.

Oh, since you've killfiled Therm, and no one quoted that bit in any
replies, you may want to check out what he said about the Japanese
school system. Might be useful....

If you're talking about the fact that grade retention is very rarely done
(not *never*, just rarely) in Japan, someone else passed that along.

I already knew that. I factored that in.

And, even ignoring the fact that Akane goes to Furinkan - where you can
find the occasional shark in the school swimming pool and the Principal has
been known to toss bombs at his students - it says something on how poorly
Akane is handling the situation, doesn't it?
