Take another look:

Well before the others slipped their tabi socks into their zori,

"tabi socks".  "heeled shoes".  Seems pretty clear to me.

The "heeled shoes" are what Kasumi is wearing.  Zori don't have
much of a heel.  The antecedent for "her" in "her feet" is Kasumi.

I also don't object to the use of the terms, I prefer them.

Nonetheless, I also like things like glossaries, especially for
cultural terms.  Tabi are split toed socks, not a brand name, so
on and so forth.  You could not wear zori (split toed sandals of
a sort) with regular socks (well, not very comfortably).

The same for yukata.

Little things like this would not matter to the casual reader
who would only care that they were donning footwear.  However,
there are readers with minor familiarity who might be confused
and would benefit from a better description.  Quite likely given
the target audience for anime fanfic.

It is just a suggestion, and there is no skin off my nose whether
it is followed or not.  I enjoyed the story.
