The dream of middle-aged Akane could be in about 40-50 years, some time
after which Akane basically becomes the Phoenix.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean by "the Phoenix", her desire 
for colder air seems to indicate that she doesn't. Personally, (and my 
opinion on this is influenced by the book "The Green Futures of Tycho" 
(great stuff)), I think that either she's dreaming and her "other self" 
is helping her out, where "other self" is the part of oneself that 
"takes on" the identity of the curse, in the case of Ranma or Herb. 
Alternatively, and I think this is more likely, she's seeing the 
future, and is being given a chance to change it. We already know that 
the Tendos are not unknown to the kami.
