Subject: [FFML] C&C? What a joke! Re: [Ranma] The Amazon Queen, part
one
(draft)
This is as far as I got.
I read it because it said it was an altaverse. But the name of the
author coupled with this paragraph tells me how it's going to end,
and
I'm bored of Ranma/Akane stories.
Good luck.
This was rather disappointing, Brian. The quality of a yarn does not
hinge
on Ranma being matched up with Akane. More importantly, you have no
grounds
for making such an assessment based soley on the name of the author.
If
this
was as far as you wanted to go while doing C&C for this story, then
you
should not have posted any of it. In my opinion, you owe Robert a
public
apology for this stunt. I know you and your work have been abused on
FFML
a
few times, but I don't recall Robert being a party to it and you
should
not
be taking it out on him.
In light of some of the other "C&C" I've seen offered to the author of
this
piece, I'm beginning to think that I am well-advised to abandon this
forum
altogether. Mr. Haynie has written some of the best comedy to ever
pass
through the FFML e-mail server and he is being treated rather badly
for
offering what promises to be yet another hilarious piece.
So, I have to wonder about the motivation of those nitpicking about
the
finer points of "canon" and offer him no help whatsoever when it comes
to
actual improvements needed in his work. If I seem angry to you, that's
a
good thing, because I am well and truly peeved about this.
I've been meaning to say mostly the same thing, both here and on Delphi.
Are people really so allergic to Akane that they'll chase off *Kenko* of
all people for having something of a bias towards her, when that was
what Takahashi intended?
To Mr. Haynie himself:
I found the story intriguing, so far, and I'll make an effort to have
some more detailed C&C (spell check, mostly, and not a lot of that from
what I saw) for you. At the very least, it's a humorous take on an
oft-used concept, and as usual, it was done with flair. I'm looking
forward to more - of any of your stories. (Just to be different, I'd
like to request more of the Ranma-as-Usagi fic :-)
To the list at large: You know the old saw about sticks and stones?
*Complete and utter nonsense.* And in a text based medium such as this,
even tongue-in-cheek comments will sometimes be taken at face value -
most often with disastrous effects.
SP
(*Sigh*, another example of why this list is getting eaten alive by
FF.net...)
