Maybe so, but the crux of my argument is NOT Soun being
strong and Kasumi being weak (I may not have presented
that well).  Rather this treating of guests and Soun is
over done.  Let's say this was a manga to be published...
this scene wouldn't be funny.  The same gag was overly
used making it not funny... and just culturally rubs me
the wrong way (as in  this looks like a total western
stereotype).

The constant return to Kasumi in scene... her scolding her
sisters, scolding Soun, defusing the Saotomes and
Happosai... it may not end up this way, but at this point
the fic looks like a Ranma + Kasumi or "Kasumi the goddess
fixes everything" fic.

Actually you have a point in that the lack of a mother
whom would serve as the keeper of order and disipline is
lacking in Ranma 1/2 which is what allows the story to
work (the manga not this fanfic).

The premise here of happosai joining the Saotomes has some
promise, but the execution thus far needs some tweaking.

In most households, perhaps.  The Tendo household is
not most households - which is one of the engines of
comedy in Ranma 1/2.  Soun may have instances of
being
strong willed, but especially in fan canon, they are
rare.  I think the scene works, but that's just MO.
