Since Michael, Ed, and Bob's emails are all on the same point, I'll combine
'em:

Nuku-Nuku gave him an appalled look. She still hadn't quite grasped
the concept that humans enjoyed being in water. In the early days,
Ryunosuke and his father had tried bathing her once.

I'd pay to see that.  Even if she were dressed.

It wouldn't be pretty, even if she was naked. :)

Ryunosuke's shoulders slumped in defeat. "You're right. You should
remain here." Besides, despite having a virtually unlimited power
source, Nuku-Nuku easily slept ninety percent of the time. By his
father's estimation, the sun would probably go out before Nuku-Nuku
ran out of energy. She'd make a poor student taking naps for most of
the day.

Usagi: "Hey!"

Heh.

As to Ed and Bob's points, while I'm sure there are exceptions to the
general rule, and each species, as well as individual felines, has its own
habits and traits, I'm going with the 'standard' regarding most cats.
Randomly pick, say, twenty cats, try bathing them, and watch the wackiness
that ensues. :)

And Ed, that was informative. I might even have a use for some of that at
some point in the future.
