Nuku-Nuku gave him an appalled look. She still hadn't quite grasped
the concept that humans enjoyed being in water. In the early days,
Ryunosuke and his father had tried bathing her once.

I'd pay to see that. Even if she were dressed.

That's not _entirely_ true... there are several breeds of
housecat that LOVE water. The Turkish Van, also known as the Vancat,
has a unique water-resistant fur that sheds water like sheep wool.
They love the water so much, they are nicknamed "the swimming cats",
as they enjoy leaping into streams and lakes to take a swim.

(See it here: http://storyteller2.com/Critters/PPTurkVan.html )

The Maine coon cat is another breed that loves water, and
interestingly enough, they too have a highly water-resistant fur.
The same is true of the Bengal cat, a new breed derived from the
wild Asian Leopard cat. (the waterproof fur may be a common trait).

In fact, the Bengal loves it so much, they've been known to
give their owners a bit of a shock by joining them in the shower,
or even leaping into the tub while their owner's taking a bath.
^_^

There are more breeds, but I think I made my point.
