The problem is on your end.  No idea what's causing it, but I've

seen any of his stories lacking quotation marks or apostrophes.

Nope, the problem is definitely there in the original fic, as it is

on

a number of other fics people post to the list. In my mail
program/text editor, characters 146 and 147 fairly regularly show up
around dialog... they appear literally as '\222' and '\223', which

as

you can imagine is fairly annoying to try to read. Thermopyle, your
font may be mapping the characters onto the same glyph or
somesuch... but the characters show up for me.

Heh.  Yes, I get regular quotes rather than smart quotes.  Guess I'm
just lucky, then.  Zork--FIX IT!  The trick ammadeau suggested is the
easiest way to do so.  ^_^;
