I could argue about the effect of TEMPEST hardening, Indium-selenide or
different semi-conductors for the IC's. Ways of shielding a computer from
the magic, etc.
But that would completely miss the point. Terry Pratchett's Discworld
already has an AI at Unseen University: Hex. Proof that any sufficiently
advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology (Don't flame me,
Pratchett said it first).
The existence of PCs could be due to magical research rather than
technology, or a mix of both. Or the `computing engine` could require a new
type of mage to properly utilize.
