While Chris has rightfully banned the larger
thread, there is some justice in allowing one's readers
to know just what the hell is going on in the land
behind the screen. I cannot speak for others, only myself,
but in my case it's quite simple.

         My lover has cancer.

         Aili was diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma
last August. She's been in treatment (including chemo
therapy, radiation, and biopsies) ever since. The
doctors treating her thought they had it under control,
but on July 3 (my birthday, incidentally) they discovered
yet another spot on her lung.

         I think it would be something of an understatement
to say that my mind has been elsewhere of late, Zuriel.
I'm not the only one. A friend and fellow author has
recently gone under the knife as well. (No names will
be given, so don't ask.)

         As for me? This is the third time around for me.
My sister had cancer, my mother died of it. These days,
I spend most of my time worrying about Aili, and cleaning
my service pistol. Synovial cell sarcoma has only a 40%
survival rate, and I see no real need to stick around in
the event she's taken from me.

         Obviously, Zuriel, I haven't done a lot of writing.

         Feel free to ban me now, Chris, I'm too damned
tired to care. Been nice knowin' ya, and I enjoyed the
God-boy stories.
