Mousse had been in a similar position often enough, at home, though
never with Shampoo - and never with anyone he particularly respected
or felt even close to liking in that way. It was frustrating; no one
understood, and he'd long ceased really trying to explain the nuances
of Joketsuzoku behavior and society. Hell, the word 'Amazon' tended to
make people here either nervous or dreamy-eyed. Subsequently, Mousse
settled for gnashing his teeth in relative silence while Shampoo
fussed over Ryouga, looking for physical differences.
As if half a year would have that much effect on a person's body.

Overall, I'm enjoying the fic; it's not always clear what's flashback
and what's not, but I'm generally able to figure it out in a few
sentences. I was somewhat surprised; you've built Ryouga up as a much
more potent character than in canon, but so far, at least, I don't
feel that you've cheapened anyone else (including Ranma, who's
generally the default person to weaken).
My grasp of the internal chronology has been blurred by
reading/watching manga/anime out of order, plus some thousands of
fanfic pieces, so I'm just trusting that the background notes of what
has happened when fit together, but I think that having this be an
alteration on top of the existing canon works out fairly well.
