The only time this sort of thing *is* done is when you're translating an
accent
or other unusual way of speaking. (Yes, Shampoo has an accent, but only
while
she's speaking Japanese.) It would be reasonable to have Shamps say
"Aiyah! Ah
do declaih!" if you were doing a Ranma/Gone With the Wind fusion. :)
- Now we all need to hope that no one decides to do such a combination,
because that would be just bad. Bad, bad, bad. World ending bad.
I do want to add one thing, though. While writing words to look like how
they're pronounced is downright silly, if it's done responsibly, like with
Aiyah!,
then it probably isn't a bad idea. Since it's an exclamation and all.
Something
like how it's possible to mangle Ah, Agh, Angh, Eh, Enh, etc.
As long as you're not writing "Aiyah! Ah do declaih!" ^-^ You can get enough
of
that sort of writing from reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale
Hurston.
(Which, thankfully, is not a Ranma/Deep South US crossover.)
