Subject: [FFML] Re: [Ranma] [LEMON] _I'll Be Your Fiancee! Chapter 2
Nice update. Can't wait to see more. One thing though:
[Mini-rant...]
"Yaoi" does not mean gay, and "yuri" does not mean "lesbian", in any context
other than as labels for hentai fanworks. Please, people, one is a nonsense
word formed from the Japanese for "no plot, no resolution", and the other is
the name of a famous(?) lesbian character from an old anime or manga series.
"Shounen/shoujo-ai" are likewise no good, as from what I've been told they
refer to strong but generally non-sexual love.
The one applicable term I found in my dictionary is "douseiaishiya", meaning
homosexual (noun). I've doubtlessly transliterated it wrong. When in doubt,
go with English. It is preferable to going for a Japanese feel and messing
up like this.
Um, you 'do' know you haven't updated the site yet? So Chapter 2
isn't there, in any shape or form.
Also, have you finished chapter 2 of Totems?
I'm 'very' glad to see you're still working on this.
Second item of the day: Be careful what you use for emphasis in ASCII texts,
people. The last sentence above changes into something rather different than
what I gather was intended if you use a strict interpretation of the single
quotes. The way it is written, I could very easily read this as indicating
sarcasm, with an implied "NOT!" at the tail end. Remember, single quotes are
still quotes.
