Year 1
Part I
Chapter 1-The Gathering
Inside his office a man of considerable age sat at his desk. He had long white hair and a beard to match. With his half-crescent spectacles on, the man looked over one of his many books. Smiling, he looked up as an older lady walked in. She was dressed in emerald green robes with her hair tied up in a tight bun.
She had a soft look as she stared at the man behind the desk.
"You wish to see me."
"Professor McGonagall, How are you this evening?"
"Very good sir."
"Yes, well_I received a letter from the Ministry of Magic a few days ago"
"What do they have to say?"
"We will be receiving new students this year."
Puzzled, "Sir, my apologies, but we receive new students every year"
"Ahh, but not like these young ones. They will be studying a new subject at Hogwarts. The Mystical Arts, apparently the Ministry of Magic have been keeping track of the Mystical Arts and feel that they can no longer ignore the number of children attuned to the practice. They thought that its time to bring it into the curriculum."
"Our students dont know anything about Martial Arts, which you know is the foundation for using Mystical Arts."
"The Ministry knew this, which is the reason why they felt that all new students from this point on will have to take the beginning class their first year only."
Thinking, "What about these new students you spoke of?"
"It seems that there are some special kids who would be exceptional in this curriculum. Right now the other wizarding schools are recruiting every student they can get their hands on, but before they could get their greedy hands on a select few, I was able to recruit four of the top young children that could prove to be very strong indeed. And one could be the strongest of all."
"If you dont mind me asking, who will be teaching these kids?"
Smiling mischievously, "You may remember her. I ran into her a long time ago in my travelings around the world. She was very strong and quite a good mentor I must say. She is the elder of the Joketsuzoku, Khu-Lon."
Professor McGonagall became very excited which was unlike her. "How is she doing?"
"Very well, she sends you her greetings. Right now Khu-Lon is getting in touch with the four children. She had already contacted three and in the process of talking to the fourth and most important child." Smiling at the woman across his desk. "This will prove to be a most interesting year dont you think."
"What about.?"
Professor Dumbledore held up his hands, "No need to fret, I sent Hagrid out on that little errand. The Dursleys are a very stubborn lot, but I think that Hagrid will prove to be most influential. Dont worry, he will be coming to Hogwarts."
"Thanks goodness now if you excuse me I still have some curriculum changes to plan before the school year starts. Good evening Headmaster" Professor McGonagall turned and left down the stairs out of the office.
Albus Dumbledore smiled; it was going to be a very interesting year indeed.

"Foolish boy dont you want to become the greatest martial artist in the world." Genma was disgusted with his son; he worked and slaved so the boy could be greater than he was. And all his son does is cries while hes being dunked into a pit of starving cat. What an ungrateful son he had. "Quit crying and learn the cat-fist already."
Khu-Lon had been tracking Ranma for some time. It seemed that they never stayed in one place for too long. She was having some doubts about the choices that were made for attending the school. The one boy had a sense of direction equivalent to squash. The girl was prone to violent behavior, and she didnt know about the boy yet. Hopping from rooftop to rooftop, Khu-Lon heard crying in the distant. Rushing at full speed, she saw the most reprehensible site. A young boy was being lowered into a pit of cats tied up with fish sausage around his body. Khu-Lon knew the technique too well and didnt know why somebody would even attempt to teach a child the forbidden technique.
Quickly she leapt down the rooftop and jumped over the pit grabbing the kid before he could be lowered completely. "Are you alright?"
Ranma looked around not really understanding what happened. "Yeah, I guess, but Pop said that if I learned this technique I would be undefeatable."
Khu-Lon stared at Ranma with shock and turned to the man with a death glare, "Now did he."
"Hey whatre you doing? You have no right to interfere with my training." He was looking down a decrepit old woman that had long white hair. She was balancing on her cane with incredible skill.
"How dare you subject this boy into the cat-fist training. This technique is forbidden for a very good reason."
Genma just snorted, getting out the manual. "This doesnt say anything about the technique being forbidden."
"Did you look at the last past?"
Genma flipped to the last page. His face fell. Putting his hands behind his back he laughed. "Well that would have been a mistake now would it."
Khu-Lon jumped over the pit and whacked the bald martial artist over the head, "Stupid, you could have mentally scarred this child for life."
"Hey he lives to train to become the greatest martial artist in the world."
"That is the reason why Im here, Im Khu-Lon, elder of the Joketsuzoku Tribe in China. Ive been granted permission to recruit your son. She handed Genma a letter. He looked at it:
Ranma Saotome
Wondering around Japan with Father, Genma Saotome
Japan
Opening and reading the letter Genma eyes became narrow, "What kind of nonsense is this, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hes a martial artist not a wizard."
Khu-Lon had heard this before, "Yes its true that Hogwarts is a school for Magic, but starting this year they are going to be teaching martial arts. And as Ranma continues to attend the school he will learn far more advance techniques. He would grow up to be the greatest martial artist in the world."
Genma pondered on what Khu-Lon said. This would make his life easier. And he wouldnt have to lift a finger. Once Ranma became of age he would be living the easy life on early retirement. One thing troubled him, "I dont have the money to send the boy to some school."
"No need, your wife was more than willing to set up an account for Ranma. Right now he has more than enough money in a bank to last him for the next seven years."
Genma looked down at the incredibly old woman, she reminded him of somebody. "How do I know this isnt some trick?"
"Because your wife wanted me to give you a little message. If you dont let Ranma go, then she would hold you to a little contract you signed."
Genma started to sweat, "Why didnt you say? Of course Ranma can go."
Smirking, "Im glad to hear it, now if you excuse his mother requested that I bring him back to her so she could visit with him till he had to leave for school. Classes start the beginning of September. I shall take him a few days early so he could buy his school supplies."
"By the way, where is this school?"
"England"
"ENGLAND!"
"Yes, now if you excuse me." Khu-Lon went back over to Ranma, "Son, how would you like to go to a school and learn to be the greatest martial artist in the world."
Ranma looked at her puzzled, "What about Pop?"
"Sorry he wouldnt be able to go."
"Did he say it was okay?" Looking over at his father, who gave him thumbs up.
"I think that says everything."
Shrugging his shoulders, "Okay, I really dont like school, but if I can go to be a great martial artist then I guess it wont be too bad." Getting up Ranma waved to his father, "Bye pop"
Khu-Lon turned to Genma, "Dont worry its like regular school youll see him during the summer."
"Very well, take care son. Dont let me down."
In a flash Khu-Lon and Ranma were off, leaving Genma behind. He spent so much time training Ranma that he didnt know what to do now. Instantly he looked around for the closest bar and decided this was a time to celebrate.
~~~*~~~
#9;The next few weeks flew by as Ranma spent time with his mother, Nodoka who he hadnt seen for years. They spent their time reminiscing, Ranma telling her of his training and the hardship he had to go through. Nodoka wasnt too pleased hearing about how her son was treated. Showing up the last day before Ranma left, Genma was welcomed by a swinging Katana as he fled for his life. It was time at last for Ranma to leave, Cologne showed up in a taxi with three other people in the car. Saying his last good-byes to his mother, he promised that he would write often and would see her during the summer.
Carrying only his backpack, he climbed into the taxi. Cologne sat in front with him while the other three passengers crammed in the back. He really didnt know what to say to people he didnt know. His isolation away from other people didnt really give him the ability to strike up a conversation to somebody he didnt know.
Cologne was aware of the fact. "Ranma let me introduce you to your new classmates. Akane Tendo."
"Hello," Ranma didnt know how to act around the opposite sex either, but he thought that he should be friendly. Akane on the other hand was anything but friendly.
"Yeah whatever,"
Interrupting before a fight broke out, "Ryouga Hibiki,"
Ranma nodded to Ryouga, he could tell that the boy was strong. Ranma would love to spar with him to see how who was better.
"And finally my great-granddaughter Xian-Pu"
"Nihao", a bubbly girl with purple hair smiled at Ranma.
"Shampoo, I told you to speak Japanese,"
"Oh, uh hello"
"Hi,"
"Now kids, we have a very long flight ahead of us. Ive already secured your tickets, your parents gave me your birth certificates ahead of time. Once we board I suggest getting some sleep."
They all nodded. They all thought about where their lives were going and to some it was very exciting to all it was terrifying. They never were so far away from their homes. Going to school in a strange land with student of a completely different culture. It was exciting for them, but terrifying at the same time.
Chapter 2  Diagon Alley
Upon entering the Leaky Cauldron, Cologne directed them to a table off to the side, "Stay here while I look for our contact from Hogwarts."
Sitting down, they look around as a buzz was happening around them. Everyone was excited for some reason, the only thing that they could make out was the name Harry Potter. Looking around there was an air of wonder amongst the people. They were wearing different types of outfits. Some were wearing brightly colored to ordinary robes. While others had on outfits that were for a different time and era. Turning back around, they didnt want to seem as if they were staring at them.
"These people are weird. Look how they dress?" Akane was suspicious of everyone around her. She didnt like being in a place that was so different.
"Yeah, I wonder if I made the right decision." Ryouga himself was having some reservations. "I wonder what this school will be like."
"Great-grandmother says that its great school." Turning to Ranma, "What you think Ranma?"
"Dont know, as long as Im the greatest martial artist I dont care." Ranma hadnt really talked much with the other three people, he preferred to be by himself. He felt more comfortable.
"I still think that there is no such thing as magic." Akane was frowning, "Look do you see anything that would make you believe. The only reason why Im here is because my father wanted me to join."
"I was promised that there would be a way for them to fix my bad sense of direction. I would give anything to be able to go somewhere without getting lost. Once Cologne said that, I was in."
"Its Khu-Lon, not Cologne."
"Oh, sorry Shampoo."
Xian-Pus face was getting red. She wanted to punch Ryouga in the face. "Xian-Pu not Shampoo."
Ryouga didnt know what to say he was looking at a very angry Chinese Amazon. Holding up his hands he tried to talk his way out of the situation. "Sorry my mistake."
Calming down, "Ranma, why you go to school."
Bringing his attention back to the group, "I was told that they would teach me to be the greatest martial artist in the world."
"Look, Im sorry to bust your bubble, but Im the best martial artist here." She held up her head with pride.
Looking at Akane, "Right."
Standing up Akane wasnt going to let some boy make fun of her skills. "I challenge you."
Ryouga perked up, "I challenge winner,"
Shampoo also was excited, "I get next after."
At that time Khu-Lon arrived, "Whats going on here?"
Akane sat back down, "Nothing," She gave Ranma a glare telling him that they were not finished.
Ranma didnt really seemed concerned by Akane, quickly giving his attention to Cologne. Ranma nearly jumped from the size of the person behind her.
"Okay until we can get a language spell on you, I will have to be your translator here. This is Hagrid, Game and keeper of the keys at Hogwarts. Hell be taking us to Diagon Alley to purchase your school supplies."
The four students just stared at the size of the man, he easily was the size of five people, and his hair was so bushy along with his beard.
"Konnichiwa"
"Konnichiwa"
"Konnichiwa"
"Nihao"
"Hello, youngins."
Cologne handed out scrolls to each of the children. "This is your school supplies and courses." She watched as they unscrolled and read their classes.
They read down the scroll, it listed the usual school uniform along with a special notation for a pair of loose fitting workout pants. The scroll also mentioned their supplies and books for their curriculum: Standard Book of Spell (Grade 1), A History of Magic, Magical theory, Magical Drafts and Potions, Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them, Beginning Concept of Body Energy and finally The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection. They all looked at each other.
Akane was the first to speak out. "Why do I have to take Standard Book of Spells. Im a martial artist. I came to this school to learn martial arts not magic!" The rest of the students nodded.
"Most of the students that go to Hogwarts are wizards or witches. They have a special energy in them that let them perform magic. You four have the same energy, but its used in a different manner. You will be taking beginning magic courses and will be able to perform basic spells. The reason youre here is to concentrate on the Mystic Arts. Ill explain later, but I think we should get going."
Hagrid led them to the back of the bar as they exited into a little alleyway that was blocked. They watched as he took out an umbrella. Tapping certain bricks on the wall. They started moving until it formed a huge archway. They were amazed by what happened. Hagrid and Khu-Lon walked through. Looking at each other they shrugged their shoulders and followed.
Looking around they were fixated on everything that was happening around them. They couldnt understand what any of the signs said, but just looking into the shops they got an idea of what they were selling. One of the shops that they passed had different jars of animal parts or powder. Another shop was selling different animals. Mainly owls, cats and toads, but there was some bats hanging upside down out side near the door. People and children were running around everywhere, the street was so busy. Looking inside a window were some children staring at something. They saw a broom on display. They didnt know what the big deal about a broom was. Running to catch up with the two adults, they stood in front of a huge building.
Walking inside, they were shocked to find little men waddling around. All of them looked almost alike, but they knew that they were not human.
"Hagrid wanted me to tell you that these are Goblins, very clever creatures. This building were in is Gringotts, one of the safest banks in the world. Your money is in the vaults here." She past out the keys, "Dont lose your key. This is how youll get your money to pay for your supplies."
Walking up to the main podium, they watched as Hagrid was talking to one of the Goblins. They were speaking looking back at them. This made them feel very uneasy. He bent way down to talk to Khu-Lon; she turned to them again.
"Were splitting up two will go with me, while the other two will travel with Hagrid."
Very quickly it was decided that Ranma and Xian-Pu would go with Cologne, while Hagrid would escort Ryouga and Akane. Ranma, following Khu-Lon went through a pair of huge metal doors. The room changed instantly into a cave like tunnel. Carts were in rows as the Goblin that was leading them stepped into a cart. They followed suit. When they were safely in, the cart sped off. Picking up speed little by little, the cart sped along the tracks. Going up and down like some rollercoaster. To Ranma the trip was very exhilarating, he was actually having fun. They kept on traveling taking, the cart would take different turns, going into side tunnels. Turning around he saw Hagrid, Akane and Ryouga behind them. Hagrid seemed as if he was going to get sick. Then suddenly they veered off going into a different tunnel. The cart started to slow and then came to a stop.
The goblin stepped off of the cart, saying something Khu-Lon gave him the lantern. He said something else to Khu-Lon as she turned around. "Ranma go ahead and get off the cart this is your vault, give him the key and hell open it up for you."
Handing the key to the goblin the vault doors opened up. Ranma peered inside amazed at how much money was in there. The coins were stacked up so high. There were silver and bronze coins, but what surprised him the most was how much gold coins he had. Taking a bag, he grabbed a handful of gold, silver, and bronze coins. Not really knowing how much he had, Ranma assumed this would be enough. Getting back in the cart, he showed the amount to Khu-Lon. "Would this be enough for the year."
She peeked inside the sack, "Heavens boy did you take the entire vault."
Shaking his head, "No, I just grabbed a few handfuls."
Smiling, "Yes thats enough. Ill tell you about the money once were back together with the other students."
It didnt take them long to reach Xian-Pus vault, quickly grabbing her money and jumping back into the cart. It took off where in no time they were outside waiting for the others. The others came out of the bank right after, they were excited to spend the money that were in their bags.
"Alright, I want you to go and get your supplies. Ill be around if you need help. About the money, the gold ones are Galleons, Seventeen silver Sickles to a Galleon and twenty-nine Knuts to a Sickle." She stopped as Hagrid mentioned something to her. "Hagrid wanted me to tell you that you should get your wands at Ollivanders, and that you may have one pet with you at Hogwarts, an owl, cat or toad. He suggests an owl because you can send mail that way, but its your choice." Hagrid said something else to Cologne. "He also said that first years are not allowed to have brooms and stay on this main strip. Do not wander off any side alleys." Cologne said something to Hagrid as he nodded. "Thats it be back here in two hours and have fun."
The kids were off. Each one had decided to go off and explore Diagon Alley on their own. Ranma stood in the middle of the street looking at everything around him. His mind was spinning from the business of the street. Not really knowing where to go his feet took him in front of what he suspected was Ollivanders. Stepping into the shop a small bell above the door rang. Closing the door behind him he looked around. The room was filled with tiny boxes rising to the ceiling. The room wasnt very neat and looked like it had dust everywhere.
A man came out from back to the front counter. He was a kind looking fellow who had short curly hair; his huge silver eyes seemed to peer right through you. "So youre the first one to come into my shop."
Ranma was surprised, "You know how to speak Japanese?"
"My good man, in this line of work which Ive been doing for so many years. You have to know the customers language. It just wouldnt be proper to do business any other way." Getting out a tape measure he quickly came to Ranma and measured his right arm. "I assume your right handed, Yes I believe you are. Be right back." He went to a little hallway and ran up a ladder. Pulling out a box he ran back down and took the wand out of the box. Handing it to Ranma, "Oak with a Phoenix Feather Core, twelve and a half." Handing the wand to Ranma, who just stood there not knowing what to do. "Go on give a wave."
Ranma gave a wave as boxes popped out of place, "Nope, let me see." Running to a one of the walls he pulled another box out. Taking the wand out of Ranmas hand he put another in its place. "Dragon heartstring with an mahogany finish eight inches." Ranma held the wand it felt somewhat tingly, but when he waved the wand the same result happened.
Rubbing his chin, "Very interesting, very interesting. It seemed that that wand wanted to choose you, but didnt. You know its the wand that chooses the owner. I wonder?" Taking the wand out of Ranma hands he ran back out of site.
Ranma just stared at the man thinking he was crazy. He felt like leaving the crackpot and going into another shop. Coming back immediately he held out a wand placing into gently in his hands. "Ive never found anybody who could wield this wand. It was an experiment in new wand making. Much too unusual for the average wizard or witch, but you may, kind sir are not the usual wizard or witch now arent you."
Placing the wand in Ranmas hand he stepped back. The wand did something-even Mr. Ollivander wasnt expecting. A feint blue glow started surrounding Ranma. He looked at the wand it was red smooth all around.
Clapping his hands, "Excellent, Ive finally found the user of that wand. You see I get inspiration and create the wand for the person who will wield it. You could say the wand makes itself. Im just the vessel that physically makes it. One day I had an inspiration to make an unusual wand, something that Ive never attempted. Thirteen inches, Dragon hair core inserted into a talon of a dragon. Grinded to form a wand, whats unusual was that it was dipped in dragons blood. Im not one for such a dark wand, but it was compelling me to make it. And now Ive finally found the owner. Oh happy days."
Ranma looked at the wand it was beautiful he had to admit. "Thanks I guess."
"Oh no thanks Im just glad to have found the owner finally. But you know this has been a special year. To have the very Harry Potter in here and now this. I expect extraordinary things from the students this year at Hogwarts. Oh, that will be Ten Galleons please." He took the wand from Ranma and placed it back in the box and then in the bag. "Take care Ranma."
About to leave Ranma turned back around, "I never told you my name."
"Smiling I remember every wand and every person I sold the wand to, take care Ranma. And good luck."
"Huh, later." Quickly he left the shop getting an uneasy feeling. Looking around he checked his list. Ranma wasnt the one to like to read and do school work, but it was required for him to get the books so he went to the bookshop to purchase his schoolbooks.
The bookshop was busy with students purchasing their school supplies at the last minute. Ranma walked up and down the racks spotting some of the books that were required. He just groaned at the size of the books. How was he suppose to read one book that size let alone the three he found so far. Going down one of the aisles he bumped into Xian-Pu.
"Sorry, Xian-Pu."
"No need for sorries, it was accident. Do you find all of your books?"
"No, I only found three."
Xian-Pu walked with Ranma as she helped him get the rest of their books. Walking up to the front counter, weighed down by books they placed them on the counter. Xian-Pu looked at Ranma up and down. Where shes from, males are considered weaker than women are. Amazon women ruled the village and have been for centuries, but they also appreciated a man who was strong and she could tell that Ranma was a very strong individual.
Paying for the books, the two walked outside looking at their list. "Hey," looking at Xian-Pu.
"What is it?"
"Why dont we just shop together it may be easier to get this done."
Smiling, "Sure."
They spent the rest of the afternoon shopping getting everything they needed off of their list. Ranma was really surprised that he had such a good time. They were laughing at the weird robes that they would be wearing. Ranma scoffed at the school uniforms, while he was getting measured. Xian-Pu told him that she was going to get her wand. Ranma nodded and told her that he would meet her at the pet store. He watched as she bounced out of the store. He looked back down and frowned at the long slacks that he was required to wear.
"Do you speak Japanese?"
"No, but my translator spell allows us to understand each other."
"Alright. I know that these clothes are tradition, but Im a martial artist. These clothes restrict the movement and Im not comfortable wearing them."
The tailor looked at Ranma and smiled. "Let me guess. You want me to design some uniforms for you that would still adhere to the dress code, but fit your style."
Sheepishly, "Yeah."
Shrugging her shoulders. "Sure why not. I have an idea of the type of clothes you wear. I think I can come up with something. Just give me a few minutes."
Ranma didnt have long to wait as the seamstress came back with three sets of clothes. "I cant do anything for your robes, but these should be what youre looking for."
Ranma took the clothes and went into the dressing room. He put the clothes on and was surprised that they fit great. He did a few kicks and was pleased that it didnt restrict any movements. The pants were tailored to be like his Chinese pants, but were made of the same material the school pants were made from. He put on the shirts and was pleasantly surprised at how loose the white shirt sleeves were. She also made him a very thin light vest that fit snug against his body. Ranma was very pleased with the uniform.
Putting his regular clothes back on, Ranma came out. "How were they?"
"They fit great."
"Im glad you like them."
Ranma handed her the money and left the store. Walking over to the pet store he saw Xian-Pu, Ryouga and Akane standing in front.
"Its about time you showed up, Ive finished shopping awhile ago and Im getting tired of seeing all this hocus pocus stuff. There arent any good martial arts shops around here. What a joke?"
Ranma turned to Xian-Pu, "do you want to get a pet?"
She smiled, "uh, huh."
Turning to Akane and Ryouga, "Are you getting pets?"
Ryouga just waved Ranma off, "Nah, not my thing. Go ahead, I still have to get my wand." Looking around questionably, "now where was that shop again?"
Ranma pointed across the street. "Right over there."
Ryouga looked at the shop and turned back around. "Thanks," and then he turned left and headed down the street.
Akane just grumbled, "Ive been leading that boy all over this place. Hed get lost in closet. I guess Ill just have to take him there." She stomped off after Ryouga.
Staring at the backs of the two people, Ranma just laughed. Soon Xian-Pu was laughing with him. Stopping, he motioned for her to follow him into the shop. Inside there were cages of all different type of Owls. Off in the back was where the cats were held. Xian-Pu excused herself as she went to the back of the store. Ranma had already decided that he wanted an owl. There was something about the noble creature that just attracted him.
Walking along the cages, there were owls of all different types. Brown, with black spots, snow-white owls with no other markings on them, but one owl caught his attention. This owl was brownish red with a yellow face. It had bright orange eyes. Walking up to the owl he peered into the cage. The owl just stared back.
Not really knowing why he said it. "Do you want to come home with me?"
The owl just hooted and nodded twice. This made Ranma step back. He wasnt actually expecting the owl to answer back. Peering closer, "Did you just understand what I asked you?" Ranma knew he didnt imagine it when it hooted again. Looking into the birds eyes he smiled, "are you a boy?" The bird was silent, "or a girl?" The bird hooted excitedly. "Well a girl huh, I guess I should name you." He thought about it and came up with a name, "Hitomi. How do you like that name?" The bird flapped her wings and hooted excitedly. "Then I guess its settled, lets go pay for you and get out of here." The bird hooted happily as Ranma paid for the bird and left the shop.
Waiting outside for Xian-Pu who was carrying a small cage. Ranma looked inside to find a lavender cat. He looked at the cat and then at Xian-Pu. He guessed the saying was true, the owner and the pet start to look a lot alike.
It didnt take them long to find Khu-Lon and Hagrid who were conversing, they stopped as they approached them. "I see that you have everything you need. Did you have fun?"
"Yes great-grandmother,"
"Yeah it was fun."
Khu-Lon smiled, "Im glad to hear it. Lets wait for the other two and then get some dinner. Well be staying at the Leaky Cauldron tonight and go to Kings Cross Station tomorrow."
With Akane and Ryouga finally showing up they all went back to the Leaky Cauldron led by Hagrid. Sitting down they ordered their meals not really used to English cooking. They ate quietly reliving their experiences in Diagon Alley. They hardly noticed that Hagrid was talking excitedly to Khu-Lon who was listening very intently. Finishing his meal, he said his goodbye to the kids and left the table.
"Dont worry he has some errands to run for the school. Hell be back tomorrow morning to take us to the train station."
Akane was a little nosey about the conversation that they had, "What was he talking to you about? He seemed very excited."
"Its not just him Akane, most of the wizarding world are rejoicing."
"Why great-grandmother?"
"Because Harry Potter has surfaced and is now going to be attending Hogwarts."
The kids look at each other, Ryouga just shrugged his shoulders. "Big deal who is the Harry Potter kid."
Khu-Lon just stared at the kids, "Well I guess Ill have to tell you the story of Harry Potter."
Chapter 3  He-Who-Must-Not Be -Named
She looked at each one of her students. They all have different expressions on her face. Ranma seemed not the least bit interested in what she was going to tell them. Ryouga seemed interested and was half paying attention. The girls were looking at her intently waiting for her to begin. Clearing her throat, "I suppose it began twenty-five years ago. It was a beginning of dark times for the wizarding world. A dark wizard rose into power. Most people were so afraid of him that they wouldnt speak his name. Even till this day they dont speak his name. They just call him He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."
"What was his real name?" Akane was getting into the story already.
"His real name is Voldemort"
The room became quiet when they heard the name. Khu-Lon looked at them, "Sorry, just telling the children the story." Everyone went back to what they were doing.
"As you can see people are still edgy when that name is spoken." Thinking, "As I was saying, you know who was rising in power. He gathered many of the dark creatures in his reign for power. I must tell you that he was a terrible being. He controlled the dark arts like no other person. The first twelve years were terrible. You know who mission was to bring wizards back to the world out of hiding. He hated muggles and half muggles."
"What muggles, great-grandmother?"
"Oh, muggles are normal people who cant perform magic. Well, there is a lot of history that youll find out, but I wanted to tell you that you know who went to Hogwarts as a student. I wont go into detail about that everything, but I will pick up my story twelve years ago. He was eliminating people that he suspected would pose some problems for him. One night he was found a family that was hiding from him. Nobody really knows what happened that night, but apparently he killed the father and mother. He tried to kill their baby, but failed and after that day he never was seen again. The little babies name is Harry Potter. He is probably one of the most famous names youll hear. Nobody knows what came of young Harry until now. He will be attending Hogwarts this term will you guys."
Ranma listened to the story even though he made it seem like he wasnt interested. He felt sad for the boy, to lose his parents even before he knew what they were like. He could relate in some way. He never knew what his mother was like. He was taken from her by his father at such a young age that he only had faint small memories. At least he had her still though. Ranma was brought out of his thoughts.
Everyone at the table was talking at once; Khu-Lon was getting impatient. "Okay thats enough. I cant answer all of your questions and most will be explained once you arrive at school. Now its getting late. Hagrid arrange for two rooms in this tavern. Lets get some sleep because its going to be a long day tomorrow."
Groaning, they all got up and headed upstairs. Khu-Lon decided to sleep in the same room with the girls, while Ranma and Ryouga shared a room together. Taking off his shirt and pants Ranma climbed into bed. Ryouga following suit also climbed into bed.
"What do you think this place is like?" Ryouga felt nervous, he never really went to school for very long due bad sense of direction. He somehow always got lost and didnt find his way back for a week or two.
"Dont know"
"Arent you the least bit nervous? Youre in a strange land, with different customs. To a school that is full of magic users."
Ranma sighed, "Everything in life is training for martial arts. This is just a long training trip. Thats how I look at it."
Ryouga thought about what Ranma had said and the thought made him a bit more comfortable.
In the other room Akane and Xian-Pu were too excited to go to sleep right away. "Do you like any one of them?"
"Me like Ranma, very handsome and strong."
"Hmph, that egotistical jerk. You can have him, boys are perverts anyways."
"Now remember what I told you, while at Hogwarts. Youre not to follow Amazon laws. Do you hear me?"
"Yes, great-grandmother."
Puzzled, "Laws?"
"In our land, people of our village follow a very strict set of laws. Its how our village has survived through time. Outsiders would not understand these laws and could pose problems if they were followed."
"Oh I see." Even though Akane had no clue what she was talking about.
"I suggest you girls go to sleep now."
Akane and Xian-Pu didnt press the matter and laid their heads down, while in the other room. Ryouga and Ranma were fast asleep.
A feint red glow started coming from Ranmas bag next to his bed. Turning uneasily from side to side, he started of a black cloak figure floating toward him. He tried to get away, but he couldnt move. His feat was cemented to the ground. A long bony finger emerged from the sleeve about to touch Ranmas forehead. He could only watch terrified that his life was over. A bright flash blinded him.
Ranma quickly woke, as the red glow abruptly stopped. He looked around and saw in the bed next to him Ryouga sleeping loudly. Looking around again he slowly lied back down and closing his eyes eventually falling back to sleep.
Chapter 4- Hogwarts Express
Arriving at Kings Cross everyone was following behind Hagrid who was making a path for them. Most people have never seen a person as big as he was and that was a very intimidating site. Each one of the children was pushing a cart that carried their trunk for the up and coming year of school.
Arriving at the platforms, they went past each one until they arrived at platform ten. They all were silent as Hagrid was telling Khu-Lon something. She turned around, "Hagrid said that you have to do this one at a time. And do discreetly. Take a running start and run right through that barrier."
"What? Are you nuts? Im not going to go crashing into so cement post. I think hes finally lost it."
Ranma didnt say a word; he pushed his cart to the barrier. Getting up the courage he walked quickly up to the barrier and closed his eyes waiting for the sudden stop and found none. Opening his eyes he was in a totally different station. Looking to his right, he saw the train that read on the side Hogwarts Express. Ranma pushed his cart out of the way to make room for the others who soon followed one right after the other.
The station was packed with families who were saying their final goodbyes to their children. Ranma looked at Hitomi who was hooting loudly. Xian-Pu let out her cat that jumped onto the trunk. Hagrid and Khu-Lon emerged from the barrier and led the children to the train. Some of the people stopped as they stared at the group passing by. Ranma didnt really care that they were staring, but it was still annoying. Reaching the end of the train, Hagrid told Khu-Lon something else and left them waving to the children, whom waved back.
"Alright grab your trunks and get on the train. Itll be leaving shortly." Doing as she said, they all grabbed their trunks looking for a compartment that was available.
Ranma went to the back of the train in the last compartment. Lifting his trunk on to his shoulders quite easily he climbed the stairs laid his trunk down sliding it under the seat. He set Hitomi down next to him and she happily hooted. Ranma smiled down at her, "You sure are excited, I wish I could feel the same."
The other three were following behind Ranma, but Ryouga was the only one to sit in the same compartment as Ranma. Akane and Xian-Pu decided to sit further down in another compartment. Looking toward the steps, he noticed a young man struggling to up the stairs with this owl and trunk. The boy was gangly looking with his hair messed up. He was wearing glasses and what was unusual was the he had a scar shaped like a lightning bolt on his forehead. Getting up he walked over tapped the boy and the shoulder. He looked up, "Do you need help."
The boy didnt really understand what the kid was asking him. "Im sorry I dont understand what youre saying."
Ranma slapped his forehead; of course the guy didnt know what he was saying. He didnt speak Japanese. Pointing to the trunk the kid finally understood what he was saying.
The boy saw what he was pointing at the trunk. "Oh you probably were wondering if I needed help." Nodding, "Yes, can you please?"
Ranma nodded and lifted the trunk with one hand. What Ranma didnt know was that the lifted the boy with the trunk into the platform. The boy let go as Ranma turned around gesturing where he wanted it. The boy didnt really know where to go so he pointed in the same compartment as Ranma and Ryouga.
Setting the trunk inside the positioned it so that it was out of the way. The kid put his owl down next to Ranmas. The two owls looked at each other and instantly started hooting at each other happily. Ranma looked at the two owls and smiled. He liked his owl; it seemed like him in so many ways. He heard the whistle blow signaling the train was about to leave.
Entering the compartment was a rather tall skinny boy with fire red hair; he asked the boy if he could sit in here. The rest of the train was full. The boy didnt really know if he could say yes since he was the last to sit. He motioned for the two boys to look at him. He got their attention and gestured if it was alright for the new comer to sit with them.
It seemed they understood what he was saying and shrugged their shoulder. Ranma looked over at Ryouga, "Do you think he wants to sit in here?"
Ryouga looked at the tall red head. "Maybe, I dont see why not."
Ranma moved his and the other boys owl out of the way so they were still next to each other. They were still hooting at each other excitedly. The red headed boy put his trunk out of the way and sat down. By now the compartment was crammed with trunks and people that it would be difficult to fit another person.
The whistle blew as the train started moving. The compartment shook a little from the sudden movement of the train.
The red headed boy stared at the two Asian guys and then talked to the other kid. "I guess they dont speak English?"
"No, I dont think so, but that one with the pig-tail is really strong."
"Yeah, my brothers and I were going to help you when we saw that you were having trouble bringing your trunk on, but then we saw him lifting it up with you with one arm. Oh, I guess I should introduce you. The name is Ron Weasley." When he shook hands that is when he noticed the scar. "Oh MY GOD! Your him arent you."
The boy looked embarrassed, "Uh, yeah."
"Youre Harry Potter! I dont mean to be rude, but could I see."
The boy lifted up his bangs to expose his scar
"Wow, cant believe that Im actually talking to you."
At the mention of the name, Ranma and Ryouga looked at the boy with glasses. Ryouga turned to Ranma, "Did I just hear the red head calling the other one Harry Potter."
"Yeah, thats what I heard."
Ryouga looked the boy up and down, "Doesnt look like much does he."
Ranma didnt say anything, but he could sense a power hidden within the boy. He couldnt explain it, but it felt like he was in tuned to Harry for some reason. Shrugging it off, he looked out the window.
A young girl came storming into the compartment, "Did anybody see a toad in here. Neville lost his toad again."
Harry and Ron looked at each other, "No I dont think we have."
"Youre Harry Potter, right?" Before Harry could answer, "Yes, I thought it was you. The scar is a dead give away. Hermione Granger, Please to meet you." Holding out her hand for Harry to take, "And you are?" Turning to Ron.
"Ron Weasley"
"Your brother is the Prefect isnt he." She looked at the two other boys and became excited. "Thats them isnt it?"
"What are you talking about?" Hermione was starting to wear Ron thin.
"The two other guys are they the exchange students I heard so much about. You know about the new curriculum and Hogwarts dont you?" Harry and Ron just looked at each other and shrugged, sighing. "Honestly, dont you read up on your Hogwarts history and news? Hogwarts for the first time in centuries will be teaching a new curriculum. The Mystical arts, and new exchange students are going to be attending school with us."
"Well since they dont speak English, Im assuming that they are the exchange students."
"How exciting, now I can try out my new spell that I was working on." Getting out her wand she waved it and pointed it at Ranma. "Linguioso!" Then she pointed it at Ryouga, "Linguioso!" Putting her wand away. "Hi, my name is Hermione Granger."
Ryouga perked up, "you can speak Japanese?"
"No sorry, I put a translation spell on you so you could understand what we were saying and we can understand what youre saying."
"Im Ryouga Hibiki,"
Hermione heart started beating fast when she looked at Ranma. She didnt know why, but she felt her face getting flush when she looked at him. "And your friend?"
"I dont know if you call him my friend, but thats Ranma Saotome."
Ranma turned to Hermione, "Hey"
"Nice to meet you both, but werent there two other exchange students."
"Yeah," pointing down the train, "theyre down there somewhere."
Hermione wanted to talk to Ranma, but he seemed quiet. She noticed the owl, "Thats a beautiful owl,"
"Oh thanks the white ones name is Hedwig."
"No, not that one the other one, Ive never seen such a red owl before."
Looking up, "What? Oh, thats my owl. Her name is Hitomi"
"Thats a beautiful name."
Ron looked at Harry, "Could you get anymore desperate."
Harry snickered, trying to cover it up. Hermione face grew red, "Well I guess I should help Neville look for his Toad. You guys should get into uniform we will be there before you know it."
Just as Hermione was about to leave, a boy with blond greased back hair came up behind her, blocking her so she couldnt leave. Trailing were two boys who were quite large for their age. "Well, well, well. Who do we have in here." Looking over at Ron, "A red head with second rate clothing. You must be a Weasley. Your families reputation for being so poor is legendary." He started laughing along with the two brutes behind him. Looking at Hermione, "A mudblood, and"spotting Harry. "Well isnt this a treat." Turning to the two boys behind him. "I see we have a celebrity amongst us. The famous Harry Potter." The boy bows, "Please to meet you, Draco Malfoy at your service." He started snickering again. Harry gave Draco a dirty look, "Oh come now Harry, its all in good fun. If I were you though, I would watch what sort of people you should hang out with. The wrong sorts will give you a bad reputation."
"I think I know who the wrong sort are."
Draco sneered at Harry, and then his attention turned to the two foreigners. "Look guys, we have real yellow people. Straight from wherever they came from. They probably dont know were even talking about them. What a bunch of stup.."
Ranma immediately stood up quickly in a blink of an eye got in Dracos face. In the process he sandwiched Hermione between them. "Do you have a problem with me? If you do then Im sure we can settle it quickly."
Draco immediately backed off, "Hey like I said before I was only kidding."
Khu-Lon showed up to check on her students, when she noticed the scene. "Is there any problem boys?"
Draco looked down at Khu-Lon, he knew better than to say anything in front of a teacher. "No, no problems at all." Giving her a huge smile, whispering to Ranma. "Your lucky. Come on lets get out of here. I feel dirty for some reason."
Ranma watched the three boys leave, relaxing he looked down at Hermione whos face was as red as a cherry. "Sorry about that."
"No trouble, no trouble at all." She walked down the train in a daze.
Shaking her head, "Alright settle down, its going to be awhile till the train arrives I suggest you get your rest. In a few hours put on your uniforms. Dont forget." She left them heading back where she came from.
Ranma sat back down, he didnt like that Draco guy. There was something about him that was dark. Ron was excited, "Wow, you took him right on. Way to go. You know I hear about a rumor that is father was a Deatheater. His whole family is suppose to be heavily into the dark arts."
Harry was puzzled, "Whats a Deatheater?"
"Blimey, you dont know what one is." Smacking himself, "Thats right you lived with muggles. You-Know-Who had an army of wizards that were completely loyal to him. They wore masks to hide their identities. Well when he was killed. They went into hiding. Some were found and sent to Azkaban, but there are many that still are in hiding. Its rumored that Malfoys father was a Deatheater."
Harry turned to Ranma, "How were you able to move so fast?"
Ranma looked at Harry, "What you mean?"
"Well one minute you were standing where your sitting and next second your in Malfoys face."
Shrugging his shoulders, "I dont know. Ive been training in the arts my whole life."
"What kind of magic do you practice?"
Shaking his head, "Not magic. Im a martial artist. My father has been training me since I was a baby."
Harry and Ron looked at each other and then at Ryouga, "Are you a martial artist too."
Ryouga also nodded, "Yeah, but not my whole life."
Coming into the compartment was Xian-Pu and Akane, "Hey guys did you here that Harry Potter is somewhere around here."
Ranma pointed to the kid in glasses, the two looked at the boy in glasses. They seemed disappointed for some reason. Harry smiled at the two girls sheepishly, "Hi."
Akane looked at Ryouga, "I been meaning to ask you how can I understand what everyone is saying?"
Ryouga spoke up; "Did you run into a girl with wild hair?"
"Yeah why, it was before we met a charming boy named Draco."
Ron looked disgusted, "Yeah whatever you say."
Harry was just staring at Xian-Pu. The purple hair beauty mesmerized him as she was talking excitedly to Ranma. Ron was coughing, nudging Ranma. "Hey arent you going to introduce us?"
"What oh, Ron and Harry. This is Akane and Xian-Pu."
"Nice to meet you." Harry just smiled timidly.
"Okay how can I understand what theyre saying."
"Hermione must have caste her translation spell on you." Ryouga leaned back and looked back out the window.
"I think its time we go back to our seats, dont you think Xian-Pu."
"Yeah sure, bye." The girls turn and left.
Harry waved and bye just barely came out of his voice. It was so soft that nobody in the compartment heard him. His face was flushed, he didnt know what he was feeling, but he really liked Xian-Pu. Hopefully he would see her again.
"1 hour to Hogwarts," a man came walking down the train yelling the arrival.
~~~*~~~
The students were forcing their way out of the train as it just pulled into the station. The cool night breeze was blowing softly in their faces. The moon was full as was the stars that were shining above them. Hagrid greeted the children, carrying his lantern. He directed them as they were exiting the train.
"Ol yer firs years come over her. Leave yer bag on tha train. Everin else, yous know where to go." He patiently waited till all the first year students were crowding around him. "Awright now, follow me." He started leading them down a trail through some woods. Turning around while he continued down the trail. "Beauty of a night, isnt it." The children were following behind him in single file. They were looking around as the woods were thick and the only light that could be seen was from Hagrids lantern. "Yous should be seein Hogwarts jus around the bend." As the students rounded the corner they were able to get their first glimpse of Hogwarts Castle.
There were a collection of oohs and aaahs as they feast their eyes on a huge castle that lied nestled along the edge of a cliff. The monstrous castle with its numerous turrets and towers loomed over them. It was an impressive site to behold, but also very intimidating.
Coming out of the woods they arrived upon lake that was lined with boats. "Get yerselves into tha boats. No more than four to a boat." The students cautiously stepped into the boats as Hagrid patiently waited for them to get in the boats. When the last student stepped into the boat safely he yelled, "FORWARD!"
In unison the boats moved over the lake toward the castle. Harry, Ron and Hermione were enjoying the view of the castle. Ranma who was in the same boat also was looking at the castle, but there was something not right about it. He felt a presence in there. He couldnt explain it, but he felt as if there was going to be some trouble happening soon.
Hermione turned around and noticed Ranmas discomfort. "Is something troubling you Ranma."
Looking at the young girl, "No Im alright. Ive never seen anything like this before. Its very large."
"Yeah," Looking at the castle, "I know what you mean, but just wait till were inside. Ive read up on my Hogwarts history and inside the outside is nothing compared to whats waiting for us inside."
Staring at the cast again, "I know what you mean."

I'm a huge Ranma and Potter fan and need somebody to get out the kinks in the story. I decided to give me other stories a hiatus until I'm finished with this.
