Right here I had this pegged as Osaka refering to her dream of Chiyo. Good
choice to go with this.
Thanks! I should have mentioned something about how the monsters
atop Chiyo's head were 'connected' somehow, come to think of

into her eyes, all I can see is emptiness. She moves and

Actually I assume she's referring to Chiyo, or is it Tomo, like Gin said?
All through this, Chiyo's the focus. Tomo could easily
be considered one that's about ready to succumb to the
malevolent Ponytails, though.

Aliens and recruited the most powerful girl around to serve as Chiyo's

I think you're on to something there, DB. Azumanga must be deeply
metaphorical, like Neon Genesis Evangelion--they must have really
all died horribly at the end by the ponytails of Chiyo under the
control of the yellow cat and enforced by the poor mind-controlled
Sakaki--and they won't even show us 'till the third movie!
And Osaka, like Shinji, was too incompetent to save them...

Icy the Penguin, actually, since Chiyo dressed as one.
Oh! Right. So it WAS a penguin. I thought it looked more
like a shark.
It had to be a short story, otherwise, I'd have shown the
bits where the ponytails start taking over the entire
school and where the Chiyo-pods are maturing. :D

Which might have a place in the fanfic historybooks if
anyone actually gets around to writing it out.
And Osaka's not delusional! She's just... better prepared
than the rest of 'em.
