Now I'll get back to Ucchan:
Standard Disclaimer: I don't own the rights to any of the Azumanga Diaoh
characters. They are owned by their creators.
Azuma-sensei, of course. Beyond that, I can never remember either.
I am bad with names. Larry always adds them to the page, though.
Writer's note: This was done in inspiration for Larry F's 100'th weekly
update letter for the homepage he's graciously letting me use. In
keeping
in
the Azumanga manga vein, this will be short and almost pointless. ^_^
You say that like it's almost a bad thing, DB ^_~
Nope. Just meant it'll be more or less original flavorish.

Tomo Takino was not a happy girl as she found herself pulled/dragged
through
the hallowed halls of her school by her father, who, in the vein of all
fathers of teenagers, was being exceptionally unreasonable.
It may be a common thread among teenagers, but to start off with that
particular comment almost suggests that Tomo and Kachiko Tendo may be
related somehow...
Most teenagers become convinced they know more than any adult, especially
parents, and I find it hard to believe Tomo isn't worse than most. :)
"You're blowing this all out of proportion," she insisted.
"All of your grades are below acceptable levels, but this English grade
is
the absolute worst," her father snorted in disgust.
TOMO: Yeah? Well, it's all that conjugal stuff I have trouble with.
FATHER: (stopping abruptly and turning to his daughter) I'm *hoping* the
word you're meaning is 'conjugations'...
Heh.
"You should have let me take French. I'm fluent in that."
"Portraying Joan of Arc in a school play does not make automatically
make
you fluent in French!" her father shouted.
TOMO: What about those volumes of 'Rose of Versailles'?
FATHER: Do you really think you could learn French from a manga?
TOMO: 'Sovreignity-Associationist Girl Nanami'?
FATHER: That's *Quebecois* French. It hardly counts.
'Fake French'. It's almost sad, someone wanting to be French. You never see
anyone else in the world saying "I wish I had been born French'.
Tomo smacked her hand into her fist. "Oh, right. Well, at least I'm a
brilliant military tactician."
"It doesn't make you that either."
Considering that Joan was captured, too, suggests that she's hardly a role
model for that, anyway.
As I recall, the King Charles the Whatever stopped backing her after she got
him recognized as the king by the English. This was largely because he
couldn't quite grasp the concept of winning, since the French never do that.
That the English were 'letting' him keep the territory that she had won,
which was part of France to begin with, sounded good to him. Joan was of the
dissenting opinion that taking back *all* of your country, especially when
you're winning, is a good thing. ^_^
Tomo smacked her hand into her fist. "Oh, right." She hated having her
ideas
shot down so casually. She tried another tactic. "It's really not my
fault.
Yukari-sensai isn't all that great a teacher. She even demoted me from
class
representative to vice-rep.
So, Tomo-chan's representing vice? Which one? Certainly not sloth...
Heh. No. Envy at times, maybe gluttony occasionally, but not sloth.
If that doesn't show how poor her judgment is,
nothing will."
Yes, putting Tomo-chan in charge of anything?
Heh
<snip>
Yukari bowed in return. To Tomo's father, she smiled warmly and said,
"This
is the first time we've met, isn't it? Well, I'm sure you're overwhelmed
by
my beauty, as most men are, but do keep in mind that you're a married
man
and need to control yourself, as difficult as that may be. We wouldn't
want
poor Tomo caught in anything scandalous, now would we?" She gave a
hearty
laugh.
And you know, I can almost see Yukari-sensei saying this, in one of her
moods.
She does think the world of herself. She one popped a male student with a
desk when he refered to her called one of his friends claiming he enjoyed
her class as 'weird'.
After a moment of watching the woman laugh uproariously, Tomo's father
fell
to his knees before his daughter and bowed until his forehead touched
the
floor. "Please forgive me for doubting you!"
Yukari was left scratching her head in bewilderment as Tomo slapped her
father on the back and berated him with a mantra of "I told you so"s.
Wow. Tomo-chan in the right. I guess even a stopped clock is correct
twice
a day.
Well, look at the competition.
Yep, that's all there was to it. ^_^
DB Sommer
Cute story. I'm no great fan of loudmouth Tomo, but I agree that
Yukari-sensei isn't the best of teachers, either.
She brought back most of her students because she was too lazy to remember
new names. ^_^
This is certainly a
plausible scene - well, maybe aside from the whole prostrate father bit,
but
you need a punchline, after all, don't you?
Yep. I don't think we see her father, so he could possibly do it in the face
of meeting Yukari. :)
Thanks for the comments.
