Disclaimer: Azumanga Daioh and its characters belong to Azuma Kiyohiko.
Ah, *there's* the name. ::takes notes::
Note: The following spamfic was done for LarryF's 100th newsletter (a
good enough reason to finally stop procrastinating ^_^;).
As flattered as I am to apparantly have started a trend here, I figure I'd
better apologize to Larry F here and now: I sent my fic out before he set
down further details about the 'contest'. I understand now that he would
have preferred something in the El Hazard vein, as that is where the Lost
Library of Florestica hails from. Wouldn't have changed my entry, as I'm
not familiar with the El Hazard series, but I'm half apologetic for sending
other contestants down the Azumanga path.
Only *half* apologetic, though. Azumanga really does deserve a larger
fanfiction base.
Congratulations and thank you for being able to host my stories (I'm
surprised that it's been almost two years now)!
This is also a teaser for an as-of-yet unnamed Azumanga fic that will
detail Yukari's and Nyamo's time in high school.
Ooh, more fic to come! Sugoi!

"I would like to welcome everyone in Class 5. Today marks the
beginning of a new chapter in each of your lives...."
Ignoring her homeroom teacher's introduction,
Along with the rest of the class,
Minamo took a quick
glance around the room. She didn't know why, but there was something
that was making her feel uneasy.
Minamo?
Minamo wasn't sure if the cause of her queasiness was because of
her teacher's appearance, which could be classified as 'normal' if it
wasn't for the way his jaw seemed to almost always hang....
That would probably do for an explanation.
Or if it was because of the fact that, of the five rows of
tables, the first three rows were occupied by girls only. Though being
seated in the middle of the third row made it slightly more tolerable
for her.
Pity the girls in the front row; although, all things considered, they're
probably not necessarily the chestiest females in class.
Wondering how her friend was handling it, she looked over at
Yukari, who was seated in the second row, one table from the window.
Ah, this clinched it. Forgot about Nyamo's real name there for a moment.
It *would* stand to reason that Kimura-sensei would have been on the job
this much longer (though how he stays without getting slapped with *some*
sort of harassment charge is beyond me).
The other girl wasn't taking notice of her surroundings as she instead
spent her time admiring her new watch.
Sighing, Minamo thought, 'And if she wasn't paying attention to
that, she would probably complain about not having a table beside the
window.'
And if Yukari's half the complainer she becomes as a teacher, oy vey...
To the left of Yukari, though, she noticed a girl who was staring
intently out the window, a slight frown evident on her otherwise
expressionless face.
Hey, what's Rei Ayanami doing at this school?
Minamo decided that she would ask for her opinion
of this during lunch.
"And so are there any questions?"
"Kimura-sensei!" a boy directly behind Minamo called out.
Checking his class roster, Kimura answered, "Yes, Ishida-san?"
"I'm too far from the blackboard and won't be able to see clearly
from here!" the boy complained.
Without any response, the teacher trudged towards his student's
desk. Asking the boy to get up, he then sat down and looked straight
ahead. Adjusting his glasses, Kimura said in a deadpan tone, "I see
perfectly fine."
Of course, Kimura-sensei (unlike Ishida-kun) doesn't specify *what* he can
see perfectly fine.
Minamo didn't know why, but her feeling of dread had just
amplified to a much greater degree.
Probably the sensation of having *those* eyes boring into the back of your
head, Nyamo-chan. It'd give *me* the willies, too.
Nice start, and I'm interested in who this new girl is (I just hope it's not
a self-insertion Ginrai). Looking forward to seeing more... which probably
means I shouldn't be sitting where Ishida-kun is. ^_~
Itsu mo,
Ucchan ^_^
(who *really* ought to be working on that con report right now... hopefully,
it'll be ready to go by Saturday or so...)
