Interesting story... The only thing I have a problem with are the
silly
Hellsing names (it should be "Helsing", for one), but those are not
your
fault :). These names are something I'd like to see changed even if it
means they'll differ from series canon.

I really have to wonder where you got that idea. It's Hellsing, quite
clearly, on the cover of the manga scans I have--and that's not edited.

Well, in Dracula it's clearly "Helsing" :). Hellsing the anime is
practically a Dracula "fanfic" as it is, so I think the names should be
written as they are in "canon" :). I'm also quite sure female knights
aren't called "Sir" (I remember someone on this very list saying the
correct for would be "Dame").

Heh. It's been 10+ years since I read Dracula, so I don't know. Somebody
else emailed me about that, and about Dame. I do have to say, though, that
reading Helsing or Dame Integra would be off-setting for me. You are more
familiar with Dracula, and some others with English knighthood, but I don't
know if most readers of Hellsing fanfics would consider those more natural.
Before this discussion, I had read another Hellsing fic, which used Dame
instead of Sir. It annoyed the hell out of me. So, different people,
different preferences, I suppose.

I wouldn't argue for a Dracula fanfic using Hellsing, of course... but,
mistakes or deliberate changes on the author's part aside, Hellsing is what
this series uses, and so it feels more appropriate.

On another note... I have no trouble believing that Integra was deliberatly
called Sir for her mannish personality, and not on the basis of some mistake
the author made. It just seems so reasonable. :)

As
for the rest... I hope you don't mean Alucard, because the r1 dvds seem
to
have messed that up. Arucard? Bah! Alucard is the traditional name,
so I
don't know why that was used at all. I've seen both Integral and
Integra,
and Seras and Ceres, so I don't know about those, but Hellsing and
Alucard
should be correct.

I've seen "Seras" referred to as "Celia", which I think makes much more
sense if you consider she's supposed to be British :). I don't know if
Celia is a common name in the UK, but it sounds a lot more likely than
Seras.

Maybe. If I saw a fic with "Celia", I'd stop reading because of the ANC.
'Celia? Damn author avatars and inserts to hell!' You can imagine my angst
if it was a Seras/Alucard story... That's just me, though. :)

Anyway, I can see your problem. It would be weird to see Ranma as Lanma,
which is similar, I guess. I doubt you're going to see many fics that use
Helsing or Dame, though, because those are the Lanma equivalents for many
people who read/watch the series. :)
