Not quite - Kayoko admits the wounds are serious.  It was Ukyo who, in the
last chapter shortly after inflicting the injury, claimed that it was not
serious.

A couple of people have pointed this one out.  Whoops!  Fixed.  :)

It seems that much was lost in the next 800 years for the pair to go
from complements to opponents.

Indeed there have.  Or, perhaps Ranma has a reason for painting the picture
she does.  Who knows?  :D
