One does wonder how Ranma finalizes her assumption of Guardianship.
Does she have to steal a henshin wand from Setsuna or hijack the Space
Shuttle and take it to Pluto or what?

I thought that it was already established that to finalize her
Guardianship, Ranma had to physically go to the Gate; and that the only
way to do so (or at least, the way that the Gate suggested that Ranma do
so) was to get the Time Key from Chibi-Usa.

Sorry, but no - it has been established that the Chibi-Usa event has yet to
happen, if it's going to happen at all. Thus the only Time Key in this era
is the
Time Key Staff itself, which is being held by Sailor Pluto.

Who should be stranded in Juban at the moment since she cannot use the
instant teleport ability normally granted by being the Guardian of the Gate.

If I were in Ranma's place, I would do this by somehow getting in touch
with Usagi (the non-chibi one), and explaining everything that's
happened, and asking her to get the Key from her daughter.

Somehow, though, I don't think (s)he's thinking of anything that simple.

And even if he were, how would he know? Just because the Gate knows where
the Key is doesn't mean that it can use its own powers to spy on the Sailor
Scouts.
That was a stated safety feature in an earlier chapter - the Gate requires
an
opperator in order to really do much of anything besides what little help it
is
giving Ranma at the moment.

In other words, this is prime forshadowing of the upcoming
misunderstandings!
