The FAQ, of which the latest version was posted on March 2, 2003 according to my inbox, has this to say:

* DON'T BEAT A DEAD HORSE

  Threads that usually degenerate into SPAM, or are SPAM to start with,are better not started on the list in the first place. If you really have to ask about such topics on the list, make sure you remind everyone to send responses PRIVATELY and not to the list. If you want to, you can post the results of the PRIVATE discussions on the list afterwards. 

    * Romanization.  Especially, the 'u' argument.  "Is Ryoga spelled 'Ryoga' or 'Ryouga'?" Just remember that there's more than one 'official' system being used in the world today.
      
Note the part about the romanisation. Thus, this is indeed a banned thread as this discussion should never have come up in the first place, and trying to get the last public word in by saying that it should be a banned thread is also not a good idea. Since I am in the midst of leaving work and the town for the weekend, I leave it to the other admins whether or not a tempban should be placed.

This is a matter of interpretation. IIRC, the "o" is long, (it's been a
while since I last saw Stars), and in that case, the "ou" spelling is not
incorrect. Merely non-standard, which is a totally different thing... The
second "o" however should definitely be a "u".

His name is $BCO>l1R(B, which is pronounced $B$A$P$^$b$k(B (chibamamoru). There is
no long vowel in his name; it is not $B$^$b$&$k!#(BTherefore, it is not a matter
of interpretation, is it a matter of correct or not.

And this is skirting on the edge of beating a dead horse, so we shouldn't be
discussing this on the FFML. If you want to debate the point farther, that's
fine with me, but reply offlist please, thanks.
